Won't be able to use it for very long at each time, but the tractor has a 40amp alternator, so we will see.
The winch has a very short duty cycle to. Mostly want to use this to move some larger rounds a few feet and grab branches out of the woods where the tractor can;t go.
and also retrieve my lawn mower if I get stuck, again :)

When looking at winches look at winch frame and how it put together.... The 2500 lb ones that have a folded up "U" shaped frame can spring and flex and pop bearing and such out of position, better winch design is the two end plate method held in constant dimension by "connecting rods"....

Note winch body design here (not recommending this particular winch)...

VS open ("U Shape) Design...

Ideally if you are going to be into HEAVY winching hydraulic winches are more practical than electric...

When I stuck my MF GC 1715 in soft creek crossing (buried to chassis) it took my 4500 pound Jeep (with 900 amp hour AGM battery and 100 amp Alternator) and 10,000 lb winch to get it out... As it was winch and such actually slid Jeep across ground till I locked all four wheel and put blocks in front of them.... Winches can be over estimated of what they can do as well as underestimated.... And in a couple of recoveries I had battery voltage down to about 8.5 volts (with engine running) and voltage was low enough ECM shut engine down and I have to wait to battery recovered enough to start and then there was recovery/charge time.... And it's a good way to blow alternator and damage battery...

Agree the one I have is crap, but it's cheap crap and if it does not hold up, then I will need to buy something more robust. Right now light duty only. But the frame difference certainly makes sense, thanks for the pic

I use a 2500 pound Warn winch on my ATV and it struggles when stuck in mud. My ATV weight is 700 lbs....I would suggest buying a block and tackle to use with this winch.

Another pool job today, excavate and level, along with trenching for electrical.

Spent some time stumping today. 3 stumps all 18" or less. The soil here is absolutely dry as can be so getting into it was hard but it broke up/powdered easily. Tossed on the tiller and then the box blade to re-grade the area. Raked it out with my landscape rake by hand... I'll probably work it up and plant seed when it cools and we get some rain. It's going to be over 90 degrees for the next several days and there no moisture 2ft deep in the ground so no use wasting time trying to get grass to take.View attachment 662275IMG_20200705_134548.jpg
