What is an "upcharge" on an oil change?

/ What is an "upcharge" on an oil change? #61
The change oil light in my wife's '06 Trailblazer has never been lit in 35k miles! Been reset once when in for warranty work.

My reading indicates that it is based on a algorithm (mileage, RPM, etc.). Dealer said it monitors oil condition. I KNOW that it does not work!

Saying it's a non issue is a sign of either ignorance, denial or slighted pride.

there you go making stuff up again..

provide the
where I said it's a non issue.

If you are buying oem filters.. I think you are complying with what the manufacturer intended, as far as maintenance goes.

slighted pride?

sounds like another of your personal attacks again.

i had had you on ignore, and for some stupid reason removed it... i should have known better.

hold on.. fixing that issue now.. (pop) (click) (click) ahhhh.. all better.. :)

monitors oil condition/ tht's laughable. if it did, every time there was an oil change.. it would essentially auto reset.

the oil life monitor in my wifes yukon has been reset about 4 times in it's life.. so i know it's not working.. along with the defunt onstar system.. oh.. and the fuel gauge that has been repalced 3 times under warrant, and one time by me paying for it.. and i still have to have her watch the trip odomiter to see when she needs fuel.. gauge simply has about a 40% accuracy range.. god help us if the tach/odomiter / trip odomiter ever goes out... :)

whole things a POS.. the joke of a WW tank has been replaced 3 times and is leaking again...

and it's not like this truck doesn't get good maintenance... i'd understand it if it was some farm use, rental or employee vehicle that got drove like it was stolen.. unfortunately it ain't.. :) entire situation, unfortunately leaves me with a bad tast vs gm. every time my mom has to call me to come pick her up because her caddy srx keeps letting her down.. thank goodness she got the extended warranty on it or it would have cost them an arm and a leg to keep it running.. that warranty runs out this year.. hope they trade it before it falls down in the driveway again. to be fair, my stepfathers 2007 2500diesel has been ( knock on wood) trouble free... they must put a little more effort into the hd models...

You haven't answered yet "if 3000 mile oil changes are better than 10,000 mile oil changes". Then why not reap the extra benefits if changing the oil every 1000 miles. Sooner is better you know.
Sorry that you feel so vulnerable and offended when your opinion is questioned or when laboratory verified facts differ from your facts.

How old is the vehicle to have service intervals that short. There is no need for service that often. Do an oil analysis and you will discover the oil is good for 10,000 miles plus.

Believed that and followed that recommendation. Destroyed the engine prematurely. Filled with sludge. 100% Mobil 1 and filter. Never again. My oil gets changed more frequently. My money, cheap insurance and a lot less expensive in time an money than rebuilding and replacing and engine.

I buy Rotella by the 55 gallon drum and do the truck and tractors myself. A long time ago in the dead of winter while living in an apartment I went to the local Penzoil shop. The next oil change I found the plug cross threaded and wiped out.

The only time since then I have let someone else change my oil was when I was on the road 1000 miles from home and I need to change the Ram 3500. The local Pronto at least used Mobil 1 but charge $125. Never again. I'll continue with the T6 at home and change the oil per schedule.

that's another reason I'm not a fan of quick-ripoff-change places.

about every 3rd change they hit you with the bogus your drain plug is stripped thing.

they did that to my wife with her yukon. I pointed out they had been the only people to change it since the LAST time they hit her with that bogus 5$ charge.. so it was THEM stripping it... they looked a little embaressed and decided to NOT charge her that last time.

moot point.. they f'ed up again after that and lost my business... no biggie. I change it faster than they do, and don't strip plugs...

I guess that's what you get for high school dropout labor that woorks a different job every week while worrying about what party to hit on the weekend eh? I'm not sure exactly how the food chain works.. but I'm guessing somewhere at the bottom is either if you don't qualify as a lube tech, then you are a parts counter man ( who can't seem to look anything up ).. or the other way around.. if you don't qualify as the ounterman.. then you are the drain plug stripper guy inthe oil pit... :)

It's a shame that some folk seek refuge in alcohol rather than face reality. The good news there really isn't any shame in admiring and alcohol problem. There are 12 step programs out there with good people to assist you. On behalf of the tractorbynet members, I wish you a speedy and complete recovery.

Quite frankly I don't believe you that 100% Mobil 1 would breakdown and sludge up in 10,000 miles. And mineral oil would not in breakdown and sludge by 3000 miles in the same conditions.
There had to have been a coolant leak into the crankcase or similar fault.
