I would say flail mower as well. For $250 it would be hard to go wrong no matter what it is.

It looks like to me the point to attach the 3rd arm is there, just angle does not show it well.

But your comments above interest me, "unless they are attached to a backhoe"? "Wood for the trees," Do they use flail mowers on backhoes there? If so look for the thread here where that is being asked about. But what does wood for the trees mean? I am asking cause I am working on same idea but excavator. kt

The top link appears to be there but is hard to see because of the angle. The price seems to be good and it appears to be in good shape, Has the shaft been welded or is that just rust?

I'd buy it and resell it. Should be worth considerably more than $250.00.

"Cant see the wood for the trees" - Cannot see the big picture because you are focused on the details.

I was so focused on the 3 point which led me to thinking that it was some kind of reel mower. As I said, flail mowers here are usually seen on a backhoe arm used to mow ditches etc.

I am going to pass anyway, although I recognise that it is probably worth it, the fact that I live on Vancouver Island means that I might sit on it for some time, and I dont have that luxury right at the moment

Hey thats just a few minutes from me in North Saanich.
It looks just like the flail mower my friend on Denman Island got with his B7610 for his orchard area. I think he gave up on it and got a bush hog type.

I don't have any need for it, no grass yet!

Any ideas ?. It seems to have been for a 3pt, although the toplink connect might be missing. I cannot find anything similar, although I was thinking a reel mower ?

GRASS CUTTER Central Saanich, Victoria

The ad says it's a flail mower. There are a lot of them around here mowing in the olive, almond, prune plum and walnut orchards.

More info on flail mowers in this thread
