What Is My Tractor Worth? Private Sale.

I have a 2014 Massey GC1705 that I am going to sell and upgrade when I go to FL, I'm wondering what you guys/gals think it's worth, I know in different parts of the country it will vary. Private sales here in Maine seem to be about average and it's pretty easy to sell a low hour in good condition tractor.

Is $13,000 to much to ask for the whole setup?

It's easier to start high and go down, than to go up. Looking at tractor prices it seems like they have gone up in the last year.

I know, selling a slightly used tractor can be the hardest thing to get your money out of. In my case it was a JD and I even got a really good deal on it. It's like use it for ten years, take good care of it, and THEN you can get good money for it.

I sell equipment all the time on-line. People are watching for stuff all the time ready to jump. If you start too high, it becomes a STALE ad, like Real Estate. No one wants it because they think no one wants it. Sometimes the only calls you get is from those people always out there that think they can get a screaming deal if they just wave CASH in your face.

If it is pre-emmisions, that could be a HUGE plus for your sale. Not sure that is an issue in that size range though.

Definitely sell it a a whole package!
Let the buyer sell off any pieces he thinks he may not want.

Arkansas accesses the property at 20% of average value . so when I sell or purchase used equipment look at the accessed value and Multiply X 5 this gives a good average price.

Should be able to find the tractor on some of the large web sites. The attachments probably not. If in good shape I would expect them to hold most of their price with prices up with steel tariffs. You should be able to get prices on new implements and get idea how the price has increased.

I suggest that $13k is very conservative for local sale, esp considering the equipment and its desirability in your climate.

Similar 'like new' 1705s seem to ask $11-12K with only FEL, and if the forks, blower, and cab go with it, you seem to be offering a lot. Hey, with those chains too, I'd tackle a big snowfall w/o the blower. If you were nearby I'd broom my little Case/IH in a minute to upgrade to a package like yours.

My bottom line is: If you'd take $13k for it, ask 15 and give a buyer the joy of talking you down a thou or two. t o g

I have been on craigslist looking at similar tractors and you're right, I'm a little low on the asking price. Thanks for you're input..

The beauty of Craigslist is that if it doesn't sell you can always relist it. Alternately, if your phone rings off the hook you can pull the ad and reconsider.

I decided to put it up for sale for $14000, Had a guy come last week and give me $500 down payment, he couldn't get financing so I gave him back the down payment.

I have had three calls on it today, someone is coming in the am, the guy wants a smaller tractor for his wife, his is to big for small projects. Another guy is coming Friday, Saturday and another Sunday.. Should I hold to the $14000? Seems like I am at the right price, several people are interested. It's a nice package for my region.. Everything looks new..

I always gauge how many phone calls I get on something I'm selling whether I keep to my asking price. Sounds as though you have the upper hand...

All depends on how bad you want to sell and what you think you could get. Just because you got 10 calls on day one doesnt mean that would continue. Also have to balance getting your money out of it and running. My stuff is usually in good shape when I sell, but I usually price low at least in terms of what I am willing to take and lower end of market,, two reasons for that where we live your not getting full market value around here for anything. Two I usually sell things within a week or less on most items, having some gone and out of my hair is worth something. Doesnt mean I give things away, just around here starting at the top and working your way down doesnt really work.

I would, too. Folks are still getting tax refunds. The right buyer will appreciate what you have and the fine condition of all the bits. For all we know, someone has called more than once, may call again hoping for the price to go down. I wouldn't overthink what's on someone else's mind. If you're not starving, give 'em all time to show you the $$ or they're tire kickers.

Got to be careful, as a buyer your stuff is never that important to me Ill move on, I wont quibble over a few bucks either though. I dont know about this particular tractor, but I can tell from extensively searching that new used is a pretty bad buy right now around here at least. I have seen new used priced the same or more then I could get it new, but most are only incrementally less say like 10%, i get it money is money for some people but 2 grand less than new just wont simply cut it for me.
