Another example of the EPA run-a-muck. All my cans are No-Spill.

Then I drill a 1/2" hole and install a vent (Amazon) in the can.

The combo work pretty well.
Other than two old Eagle cans, all of my gas and diesel cans are now that No-Spil brand. They seem to be the only decent one on the market today. Second handle on the back, a spout that actually works, and much thicker plastic than any other brand I can find locally. They also sell the replacement spouts separately.

But I like your vent trick. The vent on the No-Spil brand is better than the rest, but still sometimes gets stuck in suction if you invert the can past 90 degrees. The second vent would totally resolve that.

I use a shaker siphon hose to fuel my tractor. Put the can in the bucket, raise it above the tank level and get the fluid flowing. The nozzles which came with them are the type with a lip which you lay on the tank, them push the safety catch to get it flowing. That nozzle really doesn't handle 40 lbs of weight very well.

After getting the 10pk of vents from eBay which works great btw..
I bought a battery operated siphon.. that thing works great.. pop in 2D batteries, put the siphon end into the can & put the hose end into the mower and push the button.. it puts 2-2.5 gallons in QUICK..
I took all those “safety” spouts apart and either took the spring totally out or nipped it in half..

I didn't add the vent to my 1 gal No-Spill can used for pre-mix. That thing tops off chain saws pretty fast as is!

Especially when you take it out of the cold shed early in the morning, and then work as the weather warms outside. The damn things pressurize like a Super Soaker!

BIG pet peeve: Stores (TSC) that keep bagged fertilizer out in the weather. Bonus peeve, uncovered. Double bonus, after it's been kept outside like that for a season, they finally bring it inside and try to sell it full of hard chunks the size of bricks in the bags.

Here's two. Restaurants...not the place but customers. Last night my wife & I ate at a great local Italian restaurant, waitress took the order and brought iced tea. A couple seated behind us about our age (70s) when they leave the guy stops and says to me "hey, I like your shirt" and sprays wine in my face and on table. It wasn't deliberate otherwise I'd punch him out. Some people, especially older when they talk they spray. I wash in bathroom as waitress cleans table and new tea & utensils.
The other is seated at a restaurant and some idiot stops to talk to someone with their azz in your face! I say "Uhhhh...excuse me!".
Most people are oblivious what's going on around them.
