seem to be recent inventions have been
around for some time. Or, are an extension of existing technology.

Sorry, the PC doesn't qualify...it was introduced by IBM in 1981...22 years ago. The First Personal Computer

My vote is for the DVD player/recorder. No more rewinding, full pause, surround sound, etc, etc, etc

Everything else exciting spawned from that, not to mention it changed the world as we know it. Remember that for most of us at least, the Internet came next. )</font>

I agree that the PC has changed our lives a lot (not always for the better) but they've been around for more than 20 years too, they just get faster and more powerfull every year.

Ah yes, the Trash-80...I was the proud owner of a Commodore PET computer in 1980...tape drive and a whopping 8 K of memory. I wish I still had it...it belongs in a PC museum!

hehe, that was the first thing that came to my mind when I thought about that first computer too, what a horrible time their marketing department must have had with that name. Ours had a tape drive too, what a pain that was. We sure have come a LONG ways since then!

My first computer was a Sinclair ZX-81. Not much bigger than a current calculator. The "tape drive" was any tape recorder you happened to have - earphone output to the ZX-81. connected to a TV. This was '80-'81

My next computer was a Commodore 64...

Them was the days.
