Can anyone tell me what this guy is doing besides having too much fun? Is it as simple as aerating the pond?

That's the liquid manure pump, and he is just cleaning it. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

It might just be that. Sure would be a good way here in FL to clean a beach front of grass and weeds

A "Tim the Tool Man" toilet brush? /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

EDIT - He's just rinsing it off in the lake

It`s definately a aerator. Here in Mississippi some delta catfish farms have them hard mounted in edge of the ponds. No transport involved just hook up the tractor and let her rip.

Not to be ignorant but how long do you have to sit there and do that to aerate a lake that size? Why not have something that just does that all day long like in a fish tank?

I have no idea how long they run them. They have several scattered around the edge of the big ponds.I believe they are only used in hot weather when no wind or rain for a few days that would naturaly add air to the water. I`d make a guess that maybe 10 -15 minutes in several locations would be enough

I agree. I would have a bunch of these littered around

Those things turn in the slightest of breezes. If you have heavy wind breaks - this method wouldn't work. The same company has their aerator available in electric form too.
