Well, we've got two. Miniature Pinscher because they're so full of character and they're really smart for little guys. Not very barky, great company and our golden retriever, Chinook, is hands down the most amazing dog we've ever known. He's a kook, he's so loving, obedient and fun. We just lost our min pin, it hurts so bad after having him for almost fifteen years!

Gotta be beagles.

Late in March had to put our beagle we rescued 10 years ago down. She had had more than her share of problems because of things done to her early in life, but I never expected her to go so fast, had a seizure on a Saturday night, and we made the tough decision the following Thursday. Liver and kidney problems got her. I have never had to do anything so hard in my life. Swore I'd never get that close to another animal.

Exactly a week later I found that these two little girls were on their way. They were born April 4, we got them on May 21. Found their mother at a shelter, pregnant and looking for a home. Wanted to take her before the pups were born, but they would only let us have two of the four pups, the mother was already placed.

They are 11 weeks old today and are just a little ornery, I'm glad we went for two, still wish we could have had them all, but the way these are keeping us running, I think I'm too old for more.

I'm already way too attached to them, they better out live me.

Just a question. This forum seems different than the other's I lurk on in that people put the pics in as attachments. Why? It's an extra step (two actually) to view the pic. The forum has the Image capability. Am I offbase here? Is it just a forum habit? If there's a good reason, tell me why, and how, to "be like everyone else" and I'll comply.

By the way, wonderful pups!

Oh, shoot. I'd say my favorite dog of the moment is my Australian Cattledog, who some idjut abandoned on our property three years ago. I tried to run him off, but failed miserably. He's a great companion, smart, accompanies me on walks, loves to ride in the truck, plays ball, and makes me laugh - not just a chuckle, but a good belly laugh - at least once a day. Ya oughta see him herding crickets... Then there's our miniature schnauzer, who's been with us nearly eight years, since she was a 3-pound pup. This one has rules. We haven't figured out where they came from, but she has rules and they have to be obeyed. For instance, when walking in town, when we encounter a parked car in our path, she takes four sharp 90-degree turns to get around it. Can't round out those corners. Nope. 90-degree turns. Every time. Then there's the gray line rule. We have two colors of tile in our country place, gray and beige. Well, Miss Thing can't cross the line. She'll walk up to it, but will stop and whimper at the edge. Doesn't matter which side of the line she's on. She can't cross it. Has to be picked up and placed across the line. Oh, yeah. And there's the nyla-bone rule. She can only chew one end. The other end must remain pristine. Of course she borrowed this rule from the Cattledog. Now, how he passed this information to her I haven't a clue. But she picked it up about a year ago. Then there's the hump-backed, arthritic, elderly chihuahua/terrier mix (our vet says he's a good 12-years old) who somehow made his way into our home and hearts a couple of months ago. He's got some interesting mannerisms that I won't get into, but suffice it to say that he makes us laugh and enjoy his company, despite my pledge a number of years ago to never have anything to do with those rat-dog chihuahua things. I mean, geeze, our first dog was an English bulldog who ate socks, snored, drooled constantly and had a major problem with gas... It doesn't get any better than that, does it? I guess I just love 'em all.

Not sure why this site is designed that way, but I'm sure it has to do with server management, and response times.

I don't mind the way its works at all, I'm just darned glad we have a free place to get and share all of this great information.

I would say that you are right. People on T3, T1, broadband or DSL do not care. But dialup people care if a pix shows up or not...

Just about any dog has the potential to be my favorite. I've 4 right now. A fullblooded Malamute, a black Lab I've had 16 years, a Beagle Lab mix, and a mostly white Border Collie. I've also had 2 other Labs, ane black, and one yellow, a Husky, a poodle, a rat terrier, and an Akita, and a Beagle. We rescue dogs, and cats too. Got 16 cats at last count. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

I think the most entertaining dog besides my Collie was the Beagle. He was unbelievable. He could break out of his travel cage whenever you weren't watching. I came home from work one afternoon, and he was on top of the refrigerator! /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif Don't know for how long, but he couldn't get himself off. It happened afew times, he never did learn how to get down. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Brittany Spaniel....How can you not resist this face??? Buster will be a teenager (in human years) come September 2, 2005. Still going strong and thinking that he is a PUPPY!

Terri, this is a picture of Buster. Best house dog we ever had, but hard to get a decent picture of him because he just didn't like to be still with someone aiming a camera at him. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
