Box Scraper What kind of box blade is this thing?!?

That looks pretty similar to my old Gannon. Mine's manual, not hydraulic, but I've seen a few hydraulic & the cylinder looks right. Some of the stuff is a bit funky on it though. The scarier mounting is pretty distinctly Gannon though. With as long as they last there may have been more than a few mods done to yours.

The bar holding the scarfiers rotates back so they are horizontal. It doesn't raise or lower. Make sure the bar is fully rotated into place & the latch engages. If it's not latched it can break things.

Mine should have a floating tailgate, but it's been jammed shut since I got it a few years ago. I know the frame under the 2 scraper blades is worn really badly. Not sure if it's jammed or welded in place. I don't look because then I'll have to fix it.

What a nice tool you found. I've often wished my box blade had an extra floating piece on the back to smooth out the surface. What I do instead is to make anothes pass backdragging the FEL bucket to smooth. I would not change a thing; and certainly don't weld it. If you want to drill some holes for locking bolts that probably wouldn't hurt and would give an idea of how it works.

That's a nice enough implement to be worth doing some research on. Maybe you can find old manuals.

I wonder if it is homemade or modified?

Never have seen one that the 3 point arms do not attach to the frame. The ripper teeth mount usually pivots separately from the frame.

Thanks for the comments guys.

Xfaxman thanks for the pics with showing pivoting points. I was trying to make that point that it pivots oddly but your arrows help other people see that. The welds don稚 look clean enough to be factory so you are probably right it痴 some kind of custom job. I have not hooked it up yet hurt my neck pretty bad so I cant visualize how it痴 gonna work when moving the rippers with the 3 point hooked to it. All others like you said have that ridged bar for 3 point then separate bar for rippers.

I did contact woods and they said it has characteristics of a Gannon but could not ID it.

Just seems so weird to me and was hoping you guys have seen something like this before. I am excited to get it working and Ill video it when I do to show you guys

My gannon is fixed ive never had a problem cutting deep with it. I can still fill it in just a few feet if i try hard :) which i tend to avoid. If the surface is hard that's where the hydraulic rippers come in. I dont think i would personally weld the tailgate as long as its heavy enough to extended the top link and smooth with the rear edge
If you get it on a flat hard surface, you will probably notice the rear blade sits lower than the front blade. That allows you to use the rear blade as a cutting surface without interference from the front blade, allowing it to cut deeper. Leave it alone.

Hey everyone, I got the blade hooked up now with new lines.

First picture attached I found that box blade locally for sale that looks very similar to mine in the way it rotates just with out the hydraulics. Asked the seller what brand and he didn't know. I am still stumped on who made mine. He was asking 450.00 for it I almost bought it for a back up!

2nd pic are the new hydro lines I had a local shop make up for me. They were 90.00 for two 5 ft lines/fittings. I supplied the male pioneer ends that go into the remotes. Do you think that was a fair price?

3rd pic shows her hooked up. I didn't rip with it yet waiting on a couple more pins that need replaced. I did move the hydraulic scarifers up and down and they work great. I would like to know if anyone knows where/how they lock into place so there wont be pressure placed on the hydraulics. I cant seem to find any locking mechanism.

4th pic shows it does have bolt holes to lock the rear blade. Can I just use a pin with lynch pin or do you think it would need a bolt?

Hoping to get this into the dirt soon, but definitely would like to know how to lock scarifies in place so I don't damage anything.

Thanks for all your help

Ok been looking all night to find something similar to this blade to figure out what it is.
I am pretty **** sure it is a Gill SR20HD
I can not find any Gill box blade that is hydraulic so I think it was converted down the road with a Gannon hydro assembly. Gonna look for a manual tonight but looks like it is 1000 lbs plus in the manual configuration

Yes, just had 2 hoses about same length made at NAPA for around $90. old hoses 3000psi rated, replacements 5800psi rating.

The blade is either a Gill or a Woods or a Massey. Woods bought Gill so depending on size it would be a SR10 (65"), SR20 (72"), SR25 (77") or SR30 (84"), SR58 (58"), SR65 (65"). The link below is for the parts manuals.
Woods SR2 Box Scraper (Gill) OEM Parts, Demo Powersports
Gill also made for Massey Ferguson the model 18 box blade in 73", 77", and 81".

The hydro assembly appears to be the original. There are good diagrams of it in the Massey parts books.
