What kind of dogs do you own?

I gotta say I don 't own them and they don 't own me . We are chosen companions .

I have a female heinz 57 dumped dog who found me on the 3rd day of a horrifyingly bad lightning storm run while primitive camping. Shakin' miserably under a bush, soakin' wet, half starved, and flee invested . She was a pup . She has been a loyal friend and companion always taking care of me before herself.

Have a male 105 lb pointer mix I took over from my deceased sister . He loved her well and had done nothing wrong to be put down . He has loved me well and watches over me as if I were on death 's door step .

And some people think dogs are not capable of gratitude . I 've told many people when they have asked, " Why did you take that dog ? " I didn 't . The dog took me .

That is such a great story. Everybody wins.

We have a pure bred mutt from "The South" (as in southeast). He was born just before Thanksgiving 2011 (making him about 8 months at the time of this writing). He was advertised by the shelter as a Border / Lab mix, but I'm not completely buying it. The woman that owns "mom" says her vet has stated that mom is almost pure Catahoula (which we see a lot of the traits in Teddy). Dad might have some lab and / order border collie in him (Teddy has a bushy tail, he's single coated, and has markings that are reminiscent of borders).

He's quite smart, full of energy, has his own routines (often heads off by himself at bed time, not waiting for us!), and genuinely enjoys his whole family here (including the cat).

who has who trained?!?!

Australian shepherd / collie mix 2 year old. got from a rescue when 2 to 4 months old. still working with her and attitude, of being shy, and little bit defensive. she was the runt and it stuck in her pretty good i think, before my mom and i came along and got her. (mom's dog) nick name shadow assassin. she will nip or go for a kiss out of no were. or if new person to her, she will nip at them all of a sudden.

Australian shepherd 1 year old. nick name taz devil dog ((from looney toones cartoons)) always has a tow in his mouth and has to show it off... errr fish out of water i mean. if there is a sound or even sight of water hes there.

every dog i have had. has always been out in middle of the sticks. dirt / gravel road. that really needs some up keep to it. and if luckly 1.5 lane wide just enough to get a full size truck down road in one direction.

it has been easier to have 2 puppies, my mom and i trade the pups back and forth between homes. keeps the 2 of them with each other as a playmate. and lets us do what we need / want to do within reason.

Have had as a part of our family over the years , a Miniature English Bull Terrier , A large German Shepard , a Ridgeback and our last Companion was a Male Chow Chow that we had for 14 years . He was a rescue that we got when he was 1 year old . Worse day of my life was 2 years ago in March having to put him down due declining health . Will never have another type of dog after our little lion showed us the chow chow way . They are such a unique breed in that their opinion is that they are equal to you and all others . Still go up and talk to my little man every morning and evening when I am home .

We have 3 yellow labs. Amber (11), Crystal (10) and Blondie (4 months).

Once you have had 2 dogs, you will never go back to just one. They really are pack animals, and 2 keep each other company. Got the pup so that if either one of the older ones goes, there will still be companionship. Funny thing is the pup has breathed new life into the older dogs, and their health is improving. Maybe just a little bit of exercise did it.

We have 7 dogs. Two Rat Terriers, two Jack Russel Terriers, a Border Collie, a Yellow Lab, and a Cody (mix breed jack russel, and something, lol). All are inside dogs, keeps it interesting around the house, lol.

We currently share the house with this crew. The sheltie and the collie were from breeders. We got the shepherd from someone who had rescued her and 3 of her litter mates. All are great dogs with their own personalities. We also have 3 cats - all strays. Ya, we are hard on vacuum cleaners.
