Tiny little taters are a pain to peel too. Maybe good for expensive restaurants. Then you can go to the truckstop on your way home and get a real meal.

I put in Pontiac and Yukon Golds this year. So far, NOTHING from the Pontiacs. Some Yukon Golds came up but apparently got bitten by the frost (several times) and died.

Only about the 2nd time this has occurred for me. Put them in a couple weeks before St. Pattie's Day this year. Suckered in by the weather; I guess. Pea seeds put in at same time are going great guns.

I thought I might have got some helpful hints here but never heard of half of them!!
Back to Sebago and Toolondos, I have planted potatoes that have gone to seed but we are supposed to buy certified potatoes.
As for the small ones, we just boil them without peeling and smash them which is just a coarse mash, I like them like that lumps and all, goes well with rustic meatball dishes on a cool night.

Hoop house, we're growing Red Pontiac, and a new variety called Huckleberry Gold. Purple skin, yellow inside. Supposed to be a low glycemic index potato, (doesn't raise blood sugar as much) though I can't find any data to support that. These are the HG, planted about a 7 weeks ago, they are working on 3' tall....seem to love the indoor environment.

The Pontiac are about half the height of the HG, planted same day.

Blue Lake green beans about to flower:

Outside, we're trying some container potatoes (Kennebec) in these barrel halves. These are just poking out of the dirt at 3 weeks:

2- 100' rows of Kennebec in one of the main gardens.....barely starting to poke up after 3 weeks. Will put out another 2 rows as soon as the ground dries enough to do so.

Strawberries blooming nicely. One row here outside the hoop house, about 50'. Another 50' in difference raised bed, then couple hundred feet of rows in other main garden.

We've been growing Adirondack blue. We started it as a gag, but they grow well enough and we like them.

I use those up first, while the skin is young and tender. Wash them and plop into boiling water, no peeling needed. I always make sure that I leave enough to plant the following year though.

Nothing like green beans and new potatoes with a chunk of hickory smoked bacon! I love them!

Southern Style Green Beans & New Potatoes

Prep Time: 15 mins Cook Time: 50 mins Yield: 6 servings

Ingredients

5 slices bacon, roughly chopped
1 cup chopped sweet onion (about 1/4 of a large sweet onion)
1–1/2 pounds fresh green beans (rinsed well), ends removed and snapped in half
1–1/2 pounds small red (“new”) potatoes
1 teaspoon kosher salt (more or less, to taste)
1 teaspoon pepper (more or less, to taste)

Instructions

Cook bacon pieces in a large saucepan over medium heat until lightly browned (but not crispy), about 4-5 minutes. Add chopped onion and continue to cook for an additional 5 minutes, stirring frequently.
Add green beans and potatoes and cover with water. Add salt and pepper.
Increase heat to medium-high and bring to a simmer. Once simmering, reduce heat to low and cover saucepan. Simmer gently for 50 minutes, or until green beans and potatoes are tender

From Maine and grow alot of Russet Burbank and Ontarios. I worked both the planting, harvesting and packing side for many years. Met my ex on a harvester in New Canada one year.

We used to grow/pack/ship Russett Burbanks also.

What is New Canada? Do you mean New Brunswick?
