What kind of PU tires should I get?

Best tires I have ever run are the Nitto Terra Grapplers. Ran them on my F250 and on my Sierra. Snow, roads and light trail. They err great and lasted 50k miles

X2 on the Terra Grapplers. I have a set of 315/75R16's on my wife's F150. For big tires on a lifted truck I've been impressed that they've lasted for over 50,000 miles. Pretty quiet and good in the snow. The sidewalls MUST be tough. Like I said...my wife drives it. :D

Dealer told me Cooper Discoverers are Chinese. Cooper is also closing US plants and opening plants in China/mexico.
I know you like your chinese tractor, but I would never recommend putting Chinese tires on a truck. I've had premature blowouts on chinese trailer tires. They looked perfectly good then BLAM.

Discoverers are not made in China. They are made in Tupelo, MS/Texarkana, ARK/Findlay,OH. There is a plant in China and other countries every tire manufacture has a plant in China though.

Just hope you don't get these Coopers:

WASHINGTON - Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. is recalling nearly 8,000 Discoverer H/T and Discoverer LSX tires that are size 245/70R17.

These tires fail to meet federal safety standards. At various mileages, they may develop and show tread chunking or cracking in the tread shoulder area, NHTSA said.

Tread chunks may separate from the tire casing, posing a serious safety risk.

Cooper Tire will replace the tires free of charge. The recall will begin in March.

Cooper Tire can be reached at (800) 854-6288.

Sounds like the problems chinese tires have.
I don't dispute that Copper makes tires in USA, but they make tires in China, too.
Chinese tires are hazardous to your health, just like their toothpaste, apple juice, etc.
You have been notified......

I love those tires. A little spendy but worth it. I had a set of Coopers and they did not wear worth spit.

I agree - on our 2000 Toyota Tundra Michelin LTX 265-70-16 from Sears $700 for the last set 3 years ago with lifetime balance and rotation. We are on our second set of these and they wear well - 50,000 is typical 70% around town and 30% highway use.

Its so nice to have you back.;) I knew you could not stay away. Nothing wrong with a recall. Every manufacture has them including GM, Ford, Cooper, Panasonic, ect. The one you cited is from 2010, so thats very useful.

By far the worst two tires I have owned were Goodyear Maratons and 2 sets of Carlisle Trailer Tires. My last set of Michelin's were not much better as were the factory Continentals on my F-350 . All US made. I have had great luck out of Dunlop, Maxxis, Falken, Most Goodyears, Hankook, BFG, Cooper, Toyo, and Greenball. I am not sure where they are made as long as they perform. As a matter of fact I just bought a set of Falken 722's for the BMW this morning. Last Monday I had a set of Goodyear Wrangler Dura Tracs installed on the Titan. I have bought 4 full sets of tires since Sept 6th of this year so I am doing my part to keep everyone employed.

As has been noted, tire preference is like a ford/chevy debate, but hopefully you can walk away with enough opinions to help.

I recently put a set of Goodyear Duratracs on my truck (gm 2500hd 4x4 crew). I run different tires for summer/fall and winter/spring. I will say that for me, I don't find them to be the best I've ever had on pavement. My previous bad-weather tires were a set of Cooper SST tires that had been studded. They actually tracked better than the Duratracs on pavement. I haven't been through winter on the Duratracs yet, but a lot of people run them around here and swear by them in the winter, which is why I decided to give them a try. I did recently haul my tractor with the truck, and I backed across a lawn and the narrow trailer tires dug in, but even in 2 wheel drive I came out without spinning and chewing up the lawn. So far I'm very happy with the off-pavement traction.

I think every brand has had some good tires and bad tires, and everyone's driving habits vary on top of that. For instance, I had great luck with Goodyear Wrangler TD tires on a half ton, but everyone I've talked to around here hates them. Earlier this year I put a set of nearly new 225/50/16 Sailun Atrezzo (made in China) tires on my car - I got the set of four for $50, and by the looks of them, they had well under 5k miles on them. I wasn't expecting much, since I have a fairly heavy car for those tires, but I've been amazed. The last two sets I had were Pirelli P600 All-Seasons and Bridgestone Potenza G019 Grids. The Sailuns are quieter, handle better, ride better, and are even wearing better than either of the previous sets. At first I was leery of them and drove accordingly. As time has gone on, I have been driving far more aggressively with them and they are working great. This won't make me have blind faith in every inexpensive import tire, but I can't say anything bad about these.

I get about 60,000 miles mostly highway out of my Pro-Comp M&S 30x9.50x15's. BUT they are a little loud for some people. (Ive got a good stereo so I just turn it up). ;)
They are good in snow and mud (25lbs air), but not quite so good on rain slicked highway/ or black ice.
Cost= $180.oo each

Just MY experience; YMMV!
Never had a set of Firestones that were worthy of replacing with the same. Every Michelin tire I have run has been great. I have run Dueller A/T Revos and loved them. I have also had the same success with BFG T/A KO. Both of these have been slow to wear out, great winter traction, quiet and worn evenly when properly balanced & rotated. Michelin makes a tire I currently have on one of my rigs that might suit your need well. It is the LTX A/T 2. It is very similar to the LTX M/S, but a little more aggressive tread. Mine have worn well and been excellent for traction, etc. All total, I have put about 1.5 million miles on tire I have personally chosen for the vehicles. FWIW, I currently have 4 rigs with Michelins on 3 of them and BFG T/A KO on my 4Runner.

I had 2 sets of Bridgestone Revo AT's on my last Chevy. Very pleased.

Bought Firestone Destination AT for out GMC - so-so quality; highway ride not as nice; picks stones into tread i.e. click, click, click; not stuck in mud or snow yet though
