What metal drill bit for putting a Piranha on?

I wont even address the caliper issue, but would like to know if the actual thickness drilled was any where close to the top measurement. I have never seen a tractor FEL bucket with sides that thick. Likely just a wear edge at the top. I would think more along the lines of 1/4" thickness unless this is a bucket off a big front end loader or industrial back hoe.

Same here...I haven't seen buckets that thick either. My bucket does have a strengthening doubler on the lower sides though.
I was of the impression"Piranha" referred to the tooth bar manufacturer.

The manufacturer is 'BXPanded' I have the Piranha toothar also.

It's fantastic for cutting brush off just below ground level, and it's also great for cutting invasive bushes in half to thin them out.

Be careful when first removing it from the box...........be sure to wear thick gloves. It will slice your hands.

I just took a look at the Piranha on the website.
Looks nice...wonder if it's as good as the ratchet rake?
No personal experience with the ratchet rake, but I'll need to get something like the ratchet rake or Piranha before next year.
I've had a standard 7 tooth tooth bar for over 10 years. It's great for digging, not so great for back dragging brush.

I ended up drilling 1/8, 5/32, 1/4, 5/16, 3/8, and finally 1/2. Probably overkill but when I tried skipping more it would "grab", so I just used most of them.
After the 1/8 pilot most went thru quickly.

Hopefully this pic shows the buttressing of the side edge.

Too late now, but for future reference, I would recommend extending the bracket inside the bucket and drill through the thin side of the bucket.

The extension could even be bolted on to the Piranha, for those without a welder.

I would also turn that bolt around. Put the head on the outside, or after some use, it will be hard to remove the way it is now.

We can avoid most of those situations if we know about it in advance. We've started using longer brackets on the Piranhas for most of the larger buckets to avoid similar added reinforcements. There are so many different buckets, it's impossible for us to know all the ribs and reinforcements.
We have even different brackets and attaching parts for buckets with double edges, etc.

Off subject, but do is see a small crack starting in the weld just under your new bolt.? If so I would put a grinder to that and hit it with a bead of 1/8 inch 7018 at about 125 amps. I could be wrong, but perhaps it is something you should look at.

When I installed mine, I put the nuts on the inside too. I also put an additional nut on each side to protect the threads from damage so it should be easier to remove if necessary. It seems to be working so far.

I ordered my Piranha today for my B3200. I can't believe I read through this entire caliper thread to find out about drilling the holes in the bucket. I'm tired now and need a beer.
