Mowing What Mower?

I have a Kubota L2550 and am about to buy a finnishing mower. Should I get a 5 ft or will the 2550 handle a 6 ft okay? Thanks for any info

I have a 6' Landpride RFM. I used it on a B7800 with no problems. Now have a L3240HST and use the same mower. It works fine except when I get close to the top of a real steep hill and it slows the tractor down. I had a cheap piece of junk RFM before the Landpride. Get a good one if your going to use it. If your going to just have it for looks it doesn't matter. If your mowing a level yard then that will make a difference in your needs.

I'd say go with the 6 footer - if the grass is too thick you can always slow down or take a narrower bite. Most times it will be ok.

I agree with Dick go with the 72" you might be surprised even in thick grass because your PTO set at 540 RPM = approximately (depending on your final drive) near 17,000 FPM with a 24" blade. And I'm guessing without doing discrete math to back it up.

hey guys, hope you dont mind if i ask a question, but was wondering about the landpride mower you have, johnthomas. is it rear discharge and are you happy with it? i have a 5ft side discharge mower, and it has been a great mower, cuts good and no repair issues at all. i am thinking about going with a 6ft landpride rear discharge, patriot model, and was wondering about your experience with yours. hope i dont step on any toes, by butting in on this thread, and if so, i apologize.

My tractor is a B2150 and I have the 72 inch Kingkutter finish mower from TSC. It is a great combination. I set the mower up high for my pastures and low for the lawn around the house.

I have a 5' Sitrex rear discharge that I pull behind my L3240.
I think a bigger mower would be nice to get my 2 acres mowed faster. I just can't see spending the $ though. I've never had it bog down.

I have the landpide 6' patriot model and I love it....
I have not had a singel issue with it and it provides a very good quality cut...it cuts about 3+/- AC a week...

That tractor will have no problem with a 6' finish mower. I used one with my old L2500 which I think had 22.5 pto hp, for 8 years until I traded the tractor in, with no problems.

Okay, Thanks guys for all the help. Bought a 6ft today and mowed with it for a couple of hours. Does good behind the little 2550. Just got the 2550 a week or so ago. Sold an old Ford and bought the Kubota. Really surprised at the power this little tractor has. always been a Ford man but sold on Kubota now.

It is rear discharge and I really like it. It lays the cuttings down even and you don't have the rows of high cut grass like the side discharge. Have had no repair issues with the Landpride. I bought a F2880E this year for another level property I mow and got the rear discharge because I really like how the rear discharge lays the cut grass down level. I also like being able to mow close on either side without the discharge chute on one side. I'm a rear discharge only guy. Well my BX2350 has side discharge but that's how it was equipped when I bought it. Would prefer it be rear discharge.
