what on earth does electricity cost near you?

Wrong. There is far more government aid per capita sent to rural states than highly populated states. It's the country folk who enjoy being taken care of by the Feds.

Nine of the ten states with highest percentage of federal aid are rural red states. Eight of the ten states with least government assistance are blue states with big cities.

A state is not an urban center. A city is. Find a map broken down by county. I've looked and can't find one. It would be interesting.

I don't know if true or not. I have that stat skewed different ways.

But I do claim city folks are used to be taken care of by government services and amenities. They do pay for them with high taxes.

Low payments or an electric bill, makes no difference, your gonna pay someone regardless. I'd rather it be for my system which I can use to be self sufficient after paid off.

Sounds like you have a axe to grind for personal reasons and have little to no actual personal experience and are just flapping your gums

t

It wouldn't be a low payment if someone wasn't paying your share. Not saying I blame you for taking free money, but I don't believe in taking money from other people and giving to someone else just so they can lower their bills. It is not a social secruity net in this case.

I work in the energy industry, so I know more then most. Plus I believe in limited government.

It's not some free hand out like welfare. It's the government investing money into renewable energy. Does it lower my monthly bills, yes. But it also pumps energy back into the grid which helps everyone. The more people using renewable energy the better for mankind. It's a taxpayer investment into our future. The government wastes far more money on feeding lazy out of work leeches than they do on solar credits for homeowners. So hop on down from your high horse there for a min and see the bigger picture.

I don't believe it is the governments role, especially since I am not sure the payout is is equal to the investment.

I have a compass.

Renewable energy takes alot of other stuff to make it. I am always curious if you are really saving your soul.

It's obvious that cities are different than rural areas and need different services. Increased population density has consequences. Public transport is one example. Professional fire departments is another. Public water and sewer also. But city folk don't require the services of government funded agricultural services and require far less road investment per capita too.

It is silly though to criticize urban dwellers for consuming large amounts of government services for the simple reason that something like 80% of the US population lives in metropolitan areas. Of course most government services are going to cities and suburbs, thats where the people are. And, don't forget, those metropolitan regions produce excess wealth that subsidizes rural areas.

Speaking of government, apparently the Ontario government is going to announce tomorrow that they're cutting our electricity rates by 25%!
This I gotta see!
The Premier is playing a shell game. Lower hydro bills and raise taxes.

City vs rural people have a different mentality. Look at the way America votes. Take a mixed state. Cities and college towns vote one way, and rural another. Rural states tend to vote one way. This does show how people think and depend on government.

In the country I have very little city services. Not trash pick up, I have to dispose of my own leaves, we don't have periodic disposal of big items. I have to find a place to take those, it is not included in my taxes.

People move to the city, cause that is the type of person they are. It progress as you compare bigger cities. Living in the country is more individual, and that to progress further out you get.
