Sorry, I should have said "whatever speed is necessary to get the job done WITHOUT LUGGING THE ENGINE". I assumed everyone would know I meant that. Thanks for pointing it out. Sounds like we are in agreement about the subject.

he thats a real good comparison a 330 hp cummins to a less than 30 hp kubota YOOOOOOOOUUUU nailed that one. truth is a bx series makes it most torque at about 2400 to 2500 acording to the kubota propaganda sitting in front of me. but hey guess what a bx doesnt have a tach so i run it WOT. If i dont need full power to run FEL and BH then im not a WOT. You two took what i said way out left of field.

It was never my intention to make any sort of comparison between my 330 Cummins and any 30 HP diesel engine. It was an explaination of HOW to run the engines...either of them

With no tach..and evidently no torque specs or HP specs ( as related to engine RPM) you have gotten the SHAFT in more ways than !

You’re correct, your obvious understanding of the internal working of the diesel engine far exceeds mine and I commend you for you knowledge. The comparison of a 330 hp Cummins turbo motor home is a very good one considering how an over the road unit uses its power as compared to a 30 hp tractor. The b3030 makes 30 hp at 2600 rpm which is also where the little white line is on the tach and that is a HUGE decrease in engine rpm’s from what appears to be a peak on the gage at 3200 rpm’s. 600 rpm’s could really make or break the job.
I also agree with your entire “shaft” theory, I mean I could get a lot more done a lot faster if I took the time to calculate exact engine rpm’s needed to lift x amount of dirt y amount in the air for maximum engine efficiency and time management. I curse that bx23 every time I cash another customers check for dirt work wishing I had a tach and a dyno handy.
Oh and by the way use diesel guys love to see those 300,000.00 rolling plywood and fiberglass units roll into our shops because we know this is going to be a good paycheck.
Enough said
2600 rpm’s on b3030 is 30 hp at 540 pto rpm’s

The brochure for the 2800/3400 shows max HP at 2800/2700 rpms respectively. Does that mean the max torque curve for my 2800 is at 2800 rpms? I can't hit WOT for another 25 hours. Has anyone cracked there L2800 or 3400 to WOT? How many rpms will it actually turn before you get to the limiter?
