Other comments about exemptions for this and that based on non-commercial use amuse me. Trying to convince an "aggressive " DOT officer that one of these kinds of loads pictured here is non-commercial can be quite challenging. Proving a negative is usually difficult.

The DOT does not care if its commercial or not safety is safety you will get a ticket around here.......

I took my Ford 3400TLB to Nova Scotia for use at my place there.
My vehicle, with trailer, and TLB, was loaded on the ferry to depart the USA with no questions.
Returning 3 months later (on the exact same ferry) I was denied boarding at the Canada ferry dock, because that ferry terminal manager considered my TLB to be "commercial equipment".
Last ferry of the season too!
I got lucky.....I asked the terminal manager to call the USA terminal, and they confirmed that they had previously boarded it there, as my personal equipment.
I had absolutely no problem with customs on either end, when I also explained that it was my personal equipment.

We have to strap or chain loaders and buckets down in PA, even if connected to the tractor.
If a mower, backhoe or attachment is on the 3pt or even mounted to the frame, that has to be chained or strapped, too.
I think the most I can overhang anything off the back of the trailer is 3 feet.

The loader isn’t strapped but it’s not falling off either. There’s 4 chains on the machine body. And maybe the grapple isn’t a textbook definition of safety but it’s not going anywhere. Even if a hose blew and dumped it it would fall in the back of the truck.

While I don't disagree with you, yours would likely be a failed argument with many DOT inspectors.

Yea it probably would but I never strap the loader or boom even when they’re on the deck and neither do 99 percent of people. The 4 chains on the body is better then most people’s securement.
