Out walking the property with the wife and dog and we noticed this snake near the dog. Not sure what kind of snake this is. Anyone know?

Google seems to think it's an Eastern Hognose snake. They have a very wide range, although I have never seen one.

Yep. Eastern hog nose snare. They are funny, as they often shrink in length and puff up to make themselves look wider. Then they'll strike at you with little effect. Then if that doesn't work, they fake their own death!!! :ROFLMAO:

Hognose. I handle venomous and non all the time...for whatever reason they still give me the willies and I treat them with the respect I give venomous snakes.

I've caught two recently and they are eastern but I'm a good ways west of the Mississippi. 60 miles from Texas.

Don't see any around here. The rattlesnakes probably ate them all.

Just got my new Huntarmor leggings. Need to get out and do some trimming.

Hognose are common around here. Wife went to pee on the side of a trail in a local state park and when she stood up, it was under her. Scared the crap out of her. It was puffed up like a cobra
