I got tired of constantly folding and/or rolling the ends of my straps (Especially during extremely cold winter days!), so here's what I do now: I heat up a nail and melt a small hole about an inch from the end of the strap. This allows me to hook a bungee cord to the end of the strap and secure it to another point of the trailer. Viola! No loose ends!

I tie mine with a slipped half hitch (see: What Knot to Use in a Primitive Situation ) then put the rest through the loop of that with what Wikipedia calls a Chain sinnet.

Works well and comes out easily every time.

When I hauling my Kubota, I stuff the excess under the hood in front and the rear, I stuff it under the seat. So far its always worked for me and is quick. If the engine was really hot, it might melt the ones under the hood though.

After checking out their ebay store, Im not sure its such a good deal.. $40 for 4 plastic strapholders is a bit rich for me.

I have been using the Black plastic Spring clamps with the red ends. I roll the excess up and clamp it to the extended portion.
I find the 6 inch ones work well on the 2 inch straps and smaller clamps on the 1 inch straps for smaller stuff. Never had any
come loose on me. I have destroyed some straps before doing this when they came loose.

I just do it similar to option 3 in the video. I dont try to tie around the strap anymore after one came loose and I drug it down the highway for a long time till a trucker flagged me. Now I tie them into something on the tractor like the FEL lift arms or backhoe bucket which is what I use the straps for anyway. Not even sure that it is required to strap those parts but being safe rather than sorry as some folks on TBN have said they were stopped and ticketed for not having the FEL strapped down or the backhoe. I cant believe a cop could consider those as loose pieces of equipment, but I regress.
Not neat but it holds the straps and costs me nothing but a minute of so of time to tie up and untie. Those little plastic roll ups are just about like every other techno-babble latest fad thing coming out. Might be a good idea but usually just another way to throw away money and look like they would be quick and easy to steal off your trailer.

I have done two different ways. I cut a old section of wire shelf as wide as the strap and zip tied two small bungies to each end. Then folded up the extra strap on the shelf piece and bungied the wrapped up part to the tightened strap.

The other way that I like more is to take a bungie that is like one used to hole tent tarps to the poles. The ones that have a round elestic rope attached to the plastic ball. I roll up the extra strap then put the bungie through the center of the rolled up strap and attached that to the tightened strap. It works really well, easy to let out extra strap and take it our when needed. I will get a picture next time I used them.

That is the way I do it. You get a lot of looks of amazement from others when you do this as well.

I fold mine at about 3' long and fold till I get to my winch, Wrap around tightened strap and tie, tuck one end under winch handle and then tuck other end into tie-down rail. Have seen alot use this hand clamps like sold at Home depot to clamp the folded tails down. We also started selling these and they work pretty good

I either put it under the strap before tightening like the others do in a 8 to 12" stack or I also carry about 10 of them small bungees with a ball on the end. Its a loop type thing with a ball and they work well for securing the folded up excess.

I usually use pretty long tie-down straps and most of the time have excess strap that would flop around in the wind if not tied up. I don't want to have 200 different straps of varying length, so I just deal with it. I usually fold the excess a couple times and tie the big folded bunch around the used part of the strap of something else nearby. This gets to be quite a hassle especially when using the 2" or 3" straps. With all of the creative people on this site I figured someone had an efficient system to keep the "tails" from blowing in the wind and wearing them out or getting caught in tires.

I have not read all the responses yet but what i do on my 16ft or how everlong they are 2" wide straps, is that i tie them off. For example if i am binding the rear wheels on tractor i will take the tag end and wrap it either on the front rail of trailer or on the front bumper of the tractor so i just run it up there and tie it off with like a 1 ft tag end. If i need i will loop through something then back to something else if there is not a long enough run to only streach it one way. Like on a 4wheeler on a short trailer.
