Serious ! empty cylinder bottom cut out hanging from a tree what else do you do with that. Why is it any different from any piece of steel hanging from a tree. What were you potty trained at gun point.:drink:

At least I was potty trained. You got talent. Acting like a jerk in multiple threads simultaneously. Shooting at a cylinder will send the bullet just about anywhere.

Take your personal attacks somewhere else.

I used one that was left at my house when i moved in as a culvert under a path....took valve out and cut off both ends with a cut off wheel.

Yep, proper ar500 targets aren’t that expensive. Shooting round cylinders is dumb and irresponsible.

Because when the bullet bounces off and continues in a different direction, there is no telling which direction it will go, it could go most anywhere in a 360 degree arc (from missing and it continuing straight to bouncing straight back at you, to going off at 90 degrees to either side).
That would generally be considered unsafe and foolish to do intentionally.

Guys like you give guns a bad rep. Shooting at a cylinder? Really?

Really? Ever shoot one? They ring very good with a 40 cal.

Cut off cylinders DO make great long range rifle targets and provide very satisfying "GONG" when hit.

When I purchased the adjoining property I found 6ea 100# propane filled cylinders lying in the bush.
Knowing who the supplier was I requested them removed but they denied ownership.
Back in the days we'd stock up on propane since come fall as there was no winter access.
It took a call to our fire department to get some action.

My concern was that they had lived in the seasonal elements for some 10+ years and I expected them to be rotted and probably fragile.

With a smaller BBQ cylinder (once purged) I cut off the ears, pulled the valve and threaded a length of pipe to make a pole.
Next I cut a window and used the cut out piece to make a roof or eave, so to speak.
Added a perch and have a non destructible bird feeder!
