What to use as a tow chain?

I've been pulling up bushes with my B2650 using a chain. The chain can be a pain with it coming loose plus it's to big to fit into the tow hitch hole. I use chain hooks and they tend to come off.

Would a strap do better? I'm sure you guys have lots of ideas.

Get a shackle sized to the drawbar hole. Put your chain through that.

My problem with chain - the loop I put around brush will not tighten up as I pull. I've gone to 3/8" cable and a slip hook. As I pull - the loop around the brush tightens.

A heavy nylon strap with a loop on the end would probably work also. Around the brush - thru the loop - hook to the tractor - pull.

Nylon straps don't hold up to that abrasion. Seems you might need one of those brush grubber chains

Depends, what are you trying to chain your toe to??? lol lol

I use a tow chain, but I go around the bushes "twice", and it works just fine.

I use straps and/or chains. Straps do wear out so need to be checked.
If you get a lot of slipping, a notch in the bush main stem works, or FEL with toothbar to push over.

Yep, wrapping helps. I pulled out many fence posts using the just the friction wrap method and lifting with the FEL. I also keep a grade-8 bolt, washers and nut near each chain hook for times when the hook is not practical or falls off when trying to hook the chain.

Come on, "chainology" is basic farmer/ranch stuff.

I use shackles to attach to my tow bar or FEL, that stops hooks/chains slipping.

wrap 2 or 3 times is the fastest way, bush either comes out or shears off!

I wrap the bush twice (or more) with a chain, and I am not sure if I can explain it clearly, but the second wrap has to be behind the first wrap to lock it on to the bush. If the second wrap is in front of the first wrap it will just slip off. (The chain needs to make a cinch knot when tightened rather than just two loops that slip off). Same goes for lifting things like railroad ties.
I prefer to use smaller chain (1/4 inch) as it seem grab better than larger chains. My 47 hp tractor can ruin (stretch) a 1/4 inch chain though if pulled as absolutely hard as can be pulled.
