What was the FIRST tractor you ever drove?

Wow, talk about flash backs. The very first was an AC WC I was 6 years old a couple years later we got a WD and that was our main work tractor 'til I left home for the service.

Well, the very first was my Grandpa's Caterpiller D2 crawler, followed by my Dad's John Deere A, Allis Chalmers WD, the nieghbor's Ford 600 and then Grandpa's Allis Chalmers WC.

After that I'm not sure how they all lined up. That was all by the time I was about 10. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I was 7 and it was a early model 35 Massey Ferguson in hay feild. My first tractor was a 1990 model 870 John Deere. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

John Deer 420, 2 cylinder gasser with a trip bucket - sometime in the early '70's. That was one great tractor and I miss the old 2 cylinder burble...

Never forget the time it "must have slipped out of gear" and impaled the rear passenger door of my brother-in-law's little Pinto wagon. Told him to claim he was attacked by a pteradactyl /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

thought i replyed to this before, but must have had a senior moment. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif but the first one i drove when i was about 7, it was a Farmall (cub) i think. small tractor, used mostly for cultivating. then they let me on the catapillar, MASSEY HARRIS (pony) and of course my favorite the old CLETRAC. oh yeh! least i forget, dad had an old iron monster, have no clue to the name, had steel wheels with steel lugs, that thing sure rode hard on hard ground. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif this was all around 1950 /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Well lawn tractor was a 1968 Ford 120, real tractor was a 1978 or so 584 International pulling a hay wagon when I was 10 or so. I didn't know how to drive standard so I'd just pull the kill cable when we needed to stop!

Oldest tractors were a early 60's Ford 6000 and 3000. The 6000 only has PS in one direction and had a loader on it run from the remote valves. One had no brakes too!

Tedding without PS is loads of fun!

Can't say I drove a tractor at an early age . But the first tractor I got to drive was a Ford 3000 . It was a a bunch of fun to learn to drive it and use a Brush Hog ,and Box blade . And to top it off I was PAID to be doing it . The next machine I was introduced to was a JD 450 C crawler /loader . It was all quite an experience . John

Either a “B” Model John Deere or a Ford “Jubilee”
Can’t remember which was first, but had to be one of these cause one grandpa had the Deere and the other the Ford. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif
I did quite a bit of shredding on both of them as a kid.
The Deere had a drag behind shredder. The Ford was easier to operate, quieter, easier getting on and off, and had the three point lift. There was something about the sound of that popping two cylinder Deere though that I just loved to hear, especially when it was really working. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif I wouldn’t mind having them both today if I had a place to store them.
