Thought it might be interesting to see why people ended up buying a Kubota.

I was at the dealer getting pricing for some parts on my tractor and got into a conversation with the sales guy about how I ended up with my Kubota's
I bought my first Kubota product in '94, a W5021sc walk behind mower, bought used from a pawn shop. I used that mower quite a bit and still have/use it! 993464629.jpeg

Since then I've owned a couple Kubota tractors and even more Kubota diesel engines, I've looked at other brands but always ended up back with Kubota.

So whats your all's story?

My first tractor - Ford 1700 - was purchased, new, from a dealer in Spokane - 1982. I kept that Ford for 27 years. Then in 2009 I decided I needed to upgrade to a larger tractor. By that time the dealer had moved from Ford to Kubota. Since I had used/trusted this dealer for some 27 years - it was logical to upgrade to a larger Kubota. Hence - my 2009 Kubota M6040.

My dad bought a new B7500 back a ways. I had not bought my property yet, but was impressed with his tractor as much as he was. Once I got my place, I realized I needed something a bit bigger and planned to buy used. My search mainly focused on Kubota. I eventually found a used L2250 gear drive with FEL that served me well for a number of years until I upgraded to a new L3901 HST.

About 18 years ago I bought 5 acres of hillside, rocky, gullied, treed property to self build my home on. Having owned boxstore riding mowers I knew they would never last and do an adequate job on my new property. I investigated and researched and rec'd advice from tractor owners to get diesel engine and 4 WD. I priced sub compact tractors and the JD was $3000 more than Kubota and the Blue tractors were $2500 more than Orange Kubotaa so I bought a BX2200 MMM FEL from Steve Barlow Kubota dealer because he wa about $2000 less than other surrounding Kubota dealers. I also bought the super expensive front wheelbarrow since I was buying my last lifetime mower. :)
Well, that little sucker was so much more than a lawn mower that I started doing lots of landscaping work with it but the low ground clearance was killing me. I returned to Barlows and asked what people that bought to small tractors did to correct their mistake. Steve explained that he would take my small BX2200 FEL MMM in on trade for a new or used bigger one. I traded the BX2200 MMM FEL after one year to a B7800 FEL RFM (I did have some open slightly sloping land in front of my home. Well folks that is the beginning of my story of how I have come to own 30 Kubotas plus I bought some rental property, bought some additional home property, sold my rental property and bought another 28 acres of home property. Needs changed over the yea rs and so my Kubotas changed over the years and currently own a few different Kubotas.
I did do some price shopping over the years and no other dealer was ever in the same ballpark as Steve Barlow Kubota so I have dealt with only Barlows as a dealer. I did buy a used. well used, :) older small Kubota one time and ended up trading it to Barlows for a 16' Gatormade trailer which I still have along with a 12' trailer.

I had a John Deere 318. We moved to a forested acreage that was quite hilly. The Deere was okay but had limitations. I wanted to upgrade to a tractor with a loader and 4wd. I looked at the home show tractors and looked hard at the Deere and Kubota. The tipping point for me was the backhoe. I bought it in 2004 and still use it. It has done everything I have asked of it and more. The backhoe doesn't get a lot of use, but I have never regretted buying it. Actually, I put in a lot of backhoe time this year rebuilding my retaining wall. I could not imagine attempting the project without it.

In the late 70s/early 80s, I grew up on what was left of an old farm. My dad wanted to re build a 2 acre pond and had to divert 1000’ of stream. We needed a 4WD backhoe. He bought a Kubota 285DT and equipped it with a loader and 3 point backhoe. It did the job easily and I was forever impressed with the durability and capability of that little bugger.
Since then I have owned Massey Ferguson, Deere and others, but Kubota always at the top of my list on smaller tractors. They give off an image of an honest machine built for hard working people.

Dad sold the Kubota about 20 years later. Some years after that, I saw it sitting for sale....shoulda bought it.

First tractor was an open John Deere 790. Late 2004. Great little tractor. But after a few times of using a 3 point hitch snow blower I decided that moving to something with a heated cab was for me. Going from gear shift to hydro was an added bonus when I traded the Deere in for a Kubota B3030.
After buying a skid steer I didn't really need the B3030 anymore. Traded it to a dealer in the next state for some other brand new equipment and cash.
Last summer I ended up getting a 28 hour used BX2380 with loader and 60 inch MMM and turf tires. Nice for light loader work and easier on the yard than the skid steer. But I need the skid steer for some heavier duty stuff so I hung onto it.

About four years ago I was in the market for a side by side. Specifically to move ice shacks on a lake where my cabin was located, and figured I would also add tracks for the winter time. Waited for the Minnesota state fair to look at all the offerings, on "Machinery Hill". Checked all of the usual's, Polaris, Honda, Yamaha, etc... Then walked by a Kubota display. I hadn't really ever noticed their side by sides before. Struck up a conversation some Kubota guys. The x1100c was built like a tank compared to the others. We talked about the pros/cons the little diesel, speed was not anything I needed. But it looked like something that would last me forever. The factory installed cab with heat and A/C wasn't really any more than the others by the time you built it up to match. Love that thing. When time came to by my tractor, I only looked at Kubota seriously.

Side story, my first weekend was a challenge with it the RTV. The x1100c was shipped from Texas, as I wanted camo vs. Orange. Delivered to the dealer in November and I didn't pick it up until mid-December. The fuel was not conditioned for Minnesota, and the temps were in the negative teens, with windchills around -30+. Hauled it to my cabin. For the first hour trying to get that thing started, I was wondering what I had done. But once I got it started, ran all the Texas fuel out of her, and refilled with winter fuel, I've never had an issue, and I installed a heater plug. It was quite the introduction to diesel.

Bought my B1750HST in 1993 (4?) and still have it.

Best durable goods purchase of my life.

Didn't know anything about Kubota before TBN

Wanted to buy a small TLB and really tried to buy a Deere as the local plumber had one and was pleased.

Made several trips to Deere and couldn't get the time of day... it was harvest time I was told and then it was after harvest time... the Deere Dealer didn't have a single compact or subcompact on the lot... said they ordered if customer wanted...

Went to San Jose Ford/Kubota but only wanted to sell Ford and now they don't even carry Ford.

To make a long story short the BX 23 is what I settled on and very pleased ever since.
