What was your first Kubota and why?

Still running M7040SU

Was chosen for 2 reasons:

1) Was best value for $$ for what similar spec tractors were available new from the dealers in the area
2) Sold by long term local dealer that has been excellent to deal with. Many pieces of equipment on the farm have come from there over the years, they had sold Kubota for years alongside red ones, but they stopped red and kept orange.

Back in 2004 we sold our property in Joshua Tree and bought 26 acres further north in the Mojave. We only paid $35,000 for the property and planned to build our retirement house. I rented occasionally for our 4 acre JT property, but I knew that with building a new house I would be best off to purchase. There were only 2 dealers within 55 miles, Kubota and Deere. I looked at buying a Chinese tractor but my wife being far smarter than me insisted that we go with a major brand. Smart woman.

I went to the Kubota dealer first and talked to the salesman who questioned my in length as to what I wanted to do with the tractor and then recommended a B7800. He gave me a written quote which was discounted off of retail and I thanked him and said I would consider. I then went to the Deere dealer and when I got there the salesman was on the phone sitting at a desk behind the counter. I wondered around the showroom for a while and when he hung up he never bothered to ask me what I needed. I finally went up to the desk and told him I was interested in a tractor. He said, there are a number of them out back. Go and take a look and pick the one you want and we will write you up. Never bothered to get out of his chair.

I walked out the front door and went right back to the Kubota dealer and negotiated a few extras in to the cost. They delivered a day or 2 later to my house.

The B7800 is my first and only tractor.

"My"first was a 175 with a 59" woods belly mower we bought to replace a Cub Low Boy. Would run that girl right against the governor all day on three gallons of diesel.
Bought a property that came with a 175DT with a loader and rototiller, growing up with large farm tractors I was amazed what this small machine could do .
Traded that for a 3010hst and finally that for the 5240 Grand L with cab. Also added the RTV 900 and ZD221 mower .

Had a Deere 318, then a 425. Belly mower and hydraulic tiller. Mowed a too-large lawn - mostly hill - and tilled the garden at home. In the meantime I was paying someone with a bigger Deere too much to mow 4 acres at the cabin.

Bunch of things happened at once: 425 blew a hydraulic fitting under the deck while the tiller was buried deep in the garden. Had to disassemble the thing from the top down to get to it since it couldn't be moved. Got it fixed and went back to sliding sideways down the hill when mowing the lawn. Decided to put in much more extensive garden, berry patches, and mini-orchard. Needed to dig in irrigation. Realized I was paying too much for the cabin mowing. Got the BX in 2009 w/tiller and hog. Later a box blade for driveway maintenance. Put in irrigation, maintained the gardens, and mowed the field at the cabin but would have torn up the home lawn... so got the GR and gave away the 425. Haven't looked back...

L4630 GSTC. After years of plowing snow with pickups and using small dozers for logging, I decided to move to a cabbed 4wd tractor.
A friend in Florida found a used one down the road from him with a loader, 6 foot bush hog and 6 foot box blade.
It had seen 2400 hrs of commercial use and the original R4's were heavily sun cracked but still held the beet juice I eventually put in them.
The same friend loaded it all into a 20 foot box truck and drove it to Vermont. Good friend. Total cost $15k including the delivery
I put 800 hrs on it before upgrading to the M6040 and sold it for $14k with just the loader. That tractor sold me on Kubota.

A friend has had a BX2230 since it was new in 2005, and I always wanted one like that. I've been looking for one for a few years, and the same friend saw one at a dealer in southern Michigan. I called the dealer, and it was a BX2230 just like I wanted, with the FEL and 60" MMM. Went up and looked it over, was in really nice shape, one owner and 1350 hours. Dickered with the dealer on the price a bit and made a deal. I bought it in October 2018.
It has been the handiest machine I have ever owned, I'm always finding new uses for the tractor, as have a couple of friends and neighbors. The only thing I wish it had was a backhoe.
After checking serial numbers, my friend's and my tractors are both 2005 models and only 120 serial numbers apart.
I've done a lot of customization on it, and it does nearly anything I want it to do.
I have kept my 1991 JD 430 Diesel, and it is on permanent snow blower duty now.

I wanted a John Deere 110 TBL but the local JD dealer did not carry JD in Yellow. My brother knew a Kubota regional manager and he arranged to have a BH90 put on a L5030 HST to let me test drive it. It was tighter than the JD and really robust so I bought it.

My first Kubota was a B7100HST that I bought in June 1995, $10,850 for the tractor with a front end loader. It was a good little tractor, but no power steering, the front end loader was not a quick attach, so I never removed it. But then in 1999, I was just driving by the dealer from whom I bought it and saw a new B2710, so that tractor, with power steering, quick attach front end loader, and a really nice canopy cost me about $15,800.

My first one as well Bird. That was about 10 or 12 Kubota's ago. Just kept getting larger and larger as the farm grew and grew. Topped out now at 2 M9000's a cab for when it's snowing or hot out and an open station for more friendly climate times...
