What would you change about your current John Deere tractor?

Time for me to play devil's Advocate...:D

I would like to see a fender mounted switch on the back like the larger tractors to move the three point hitch up and down.

Doubtful we will see that...why would they need it? They already offer iMatch which pretty much takes care of this issue from the comfort of your seat. I know that I dont need that feature with my iMatch...

I think Deere could improve the sound system in the cab. Its decent but the factory speakers are just average and there could be two rear speakers as well. My original factory radio/cd player only lasted about 9 months. The Jensen replacement is a much better unit.

Hmmm realistically Deere priced themselves out of this one. I find with my factory mount kit/speakers with the Kenwood CD player I had installed that the sound is excellent...

a decent way of using the 3rd SCV, instead of the present lever which has to be held in place (unfortunately I only have 2 hands) or tied with a small chain or elastic band which regularly comes off when you are using it for several hours on end. Why it cannot stay on as long as you need it is beyond my understanding.

The problem isnt the 3rd SCV...its working as it was designed...your using the 3rd SCV for a use it was never intented for. If you want constant oil back there you should have the Power Beyond setup installed...that is made to supply oil back there all the time as you would like.

slower A gears for applications needing rpms for hydraulic output and slow tractor movement.

Again, the machine is working as designed...if you needed that feature, maybe you should have gotten the eHydro instead.

a lower ROPS that would fit standard garage doors. More generally, the tractor seems designed to operate in vast open spaces, without walls, garage doors, low branches hitting the lights or bushes catching the hoses under the tractor, etc. An effort should be made to make it more practical.

By reducing the ROPS height, youd reduce its effectivness...Mebbe the problem isnt your tractor, but your garage door? :D

imatch sucks - doesn't fit everything and to do it right you need to put bushings, etc on the implements.

With the ehitch and extendable links - it is really easy.

The JD radios suck.

Actually his point is it would be nice to have a deluxe valve as an option. I wish I had the deluxe valves on my 5525 - the bungee cord on the handle sucks. I don't do it very often, but oh well.

How about a hydraulic system to lower the rops for stowage? Hit a button - it lower or raises like a convertible top...

I have a JD 2320. The biggest thing I would love to see on my tractor is a temp gauge. Heck, if we are going to dream big, how about a water temp gauge, oil pressure and a hydraulic oil temp gauge.

The JD radios suck.

Precisely what I said... I got a beautiful Kenwood CD/MP3/etc off the clearance shelf at Best Buy for 99.99, Deere dealer even put it in for me...thats why I said Deere took themselves out of the market $250+ for a crap radio or 99.99 for an Awesome unit? HMMMMMM :D

As for your comment about iMatch hitches "sucking", I suppose the iMatch is a love it or hate it thing. I personally love it...only attachments I've had to modify to fit are my tiller and my Subsoiler. I guess if you lack the time/knowledge/skill to modify attachments then yeah, you probably wouldnt like it. BUT Even then...If you shop from the Deere catalog of implements, you can even not get your hands dirty hooking up the PTO with their AutoHitch setup... The TRUE problem isnt the iMatch, its all your implements that dont fit.

Most of my comments are directed to the 3000 and 4000 series. 3, true rear remotes instead of the diverter switch for 2 of them. Cab a\c is marginal for some users. Option for rear fender mounted switch for pto, set of hydraulics and 3pt arms. (These are handy and have them on bigger ag tractors.) Better ground clearance with the 3x20 series - tires seem too small compared to rest of tractor. E-pto on 3x20 series. Auto MFWD engagement and auto differential lock. More precise way to find range changes (A,B,C). Ability to open side windows in cab like Kubota does. Much better air flow in cab with 2 side windows, rather just opening back window. STANDARD SKID STEER ATTACHMENT FOR FEL.

My tractor came already equipped with all driving/convenience options JD offers on the cabbed 4720 so my wish list concerns stuff I think JD should offer but doesn't. :(

-A fuel level sensor/sender that actually works

-Front-opening metal toolbox welded under the sidestep or other convenient location

-Front wheel mudguards. Anyone who's ever done commercial snow removal will testify that driving on slushy public roads in winter not only quickly turns the tractor into a brownish eyesore, but also limits visibility to the wiper area (not good). In order to avoid overly impeding steering the mudguards in question should be the minimalist type that mounts close to the wheel.

-Possibility to use both the flashers and work lights at the same time. I had to mod the wiring myself in order to accomplish this (hooked the flashers to the beacon switch). I suspect JD wants to avoid operators being able to use the flashers while working (in order to sell more costly beacons?) but personally I think that on a $45,000 tractor, operators should be able to use the flashers as a beacon if so they please dangit.

-Possibility to add 4 extra work lights on the cab without much of a fuss. Snow removal is mostly done at night and requires powerful lighting both at close and far range. Ideally one would have two pairs of work lights at each end of the cab which they could aim at their convenience. The tractor's own front headlights are of limited use because they are often obstructed by bulky implements.

Other than that I'm perfectly happy with my tractor :)

No I do not...Point taken though :) ... I can see that being an issue. To give your side some credit, I absouletly hated hooking up my Tiller before I converted it over to work with the iMatch
