todays local paper has a 03 2166 260 hours with snow blower.i called he is asking $2000.Seems fair price. It is shaft drive but is it a GT ? It seems small. the tires look small. Not sure about the single 16 hp.How much do they weigh.I'm thinking the 2544 is heavier.I read some bad reviews on the 2166.

Don't know much about the 2166 specifically. In general the 2K's are decent tractors, but they are LT's, not GT's. The 2544 is a lot heavier, by at least 200 pounds. I'd look it over thoroughly before putting any money down.

BTW, some of the 2K models came with hydrogear BCU-10(?) rear end, which is near bullet proof. Don't know if the one you're looking at did, but might be worth checking out. Also, I believe the Kohler single in there is part of the Command family.

can you order a new(gt2544) with ag-tires?

You should be able to get a new one with Ags with no problem, the dealer will just switch out the tires.

Glad to hear you passed on the 2166. Your initial post mentioned 2 acres plus snow removal, you want a bigger machine to do that work in my opinion.

I love those 1864's they look mean.To be honest that's what i have been looking for but can't find one around here.if you had a good one i can't see why a person would let it go

You never know why people are selling. Maybe they just want something new and different, maybe their needs have changed, or some people are worried about the maintenance on a 10-15 year old machine. Don't assume something is bad because someone is selling it, you just have to check it out a bit.

Have you decided to buy a new 2544?

I will be putting my CC GT2554 up for sale later not because there is anything wrong with it but because I made the mistake of not getting the BX1500 with a tiller and front blade that I really wanted when I bought the CC GT2554.
Back in Nov of 2007 I latched onto A BX1500 with A tiller and front blade so I no longer need the CC GT2554.

PS* This tractor is a far cry from being bad as it's like new and the tiller and front blade are new.:)

Hi Dave01 the 07 2544 are $3500 have any idea what it would be with ags?

I was not to serious about the 2166,but didn't think it would hurt to look at but it was sold before i could.

I was a little misunderstood i was just thinking if i had one i wouldn't let it go.

I'm thinking the 2544 is what i'm going to get.I'm not in a big hurry yet.I made a mistake last year when i rushed into getting the gt1554 don't get me wrong i like it and she's a nice mowing machine. But i'm lokking for a gt that will last many years so i can keep adding accessories as money allows. That's why i asked about the ags even though i wouldn have no need now but next year or this fall i would. Thank you

I like the smaller deck, it fits a few places the larger deck won't and the large deck gets the mowing done fast.so i do use both.so if i keep two i would like the different deck sizes.

I hate to quote myself.
As stated in other posts got a 60" deck gt on the way.i would like to have a smaller deck for some spots. But i'm going to try and sell the 38" snapper Lt.I will be out of space if i kept 3235,gt1554 and the snapper.I think i may get a walk behind mower for those small spaces?

When I moved into my current house in 1993, I used a walk behind for a few years. Then I got a tractor. I kept the walk behind because I would need it for mowing in tight spaces.

It hasn't been started since. Its got clean oil in it, oil in the cylinder, I pull it through occasionally to keep things freed up, but somehow I get it all done with the tractor. I'd rather find a way to maneuver around the tough spaces than put away the tractor and get out the walk behind mower. You might be different, just thought I'd mention it.
