... Nope I am all done with tubular magazine .22's, wouldn't recommend one to anyone now a days.
Ive never seen the issues you mention but I do not doubt they occur...
I have two tubular feed .22's
one a Mod. 1898 Winchester .22 short (only) octagon barrel "gallery gun"...my grandfather won this rifle on a .25 cent punch-board... this rifle is amazingly accurate...
the other one I have is Remingtom 550 it is a semi-auto and will take any .22 rimfire ammo...short, long, long rifle (even mixed in mag)...very fun to shoot...
