What's a good 22 rifle under $200

You can't go wrong with a 10/22, if you can find one in your price range. Another one I'm curious about, just price-wise, is the Mossberg Plinkster line. It looks like they have dozens of varieties, options, and prices, but the entry level models sell for $150 to $200. I have never read/heard anything about their quality and reliability, but it might be an option.

I would have to check but I believe it is. Has the pin in the middle of the bolt extended when ready to fire.

Funny about the 597, I never mentioned it and I have one lol. They are very accurate but the are also very finicky as well. I can shoot under half inch groups with mine at around 50-60 yards. The down side to them id they have cheap mags, some kind of pot metal.

I agree with the butler creek mags, as long as you get the steel lip ones, they last much longer. And yes Henry is also a fine rifle, I plan on having one sometime in my life, but they are pricey, good quality but pricey. Cheapest one here I can find is pretty much $500+

There are enough after market parts for the 10/22 that you can build your own from scratch, granted that will put you way over the $200 mark

The reason I ask is because I've owned a 580 (single shot bolt action) since I was a kid. It is a true tack driver. With a bit of trigger work and good sites, well, let's just say it would hold its own against anything on a 50' indoor range. :thumbsup: Outdoors, with a scope, it will put them in there too.

The 581 is its clip fed brother.
The 582 is its tube fed sister.
They also came in a youth model, left handed models and a smooth bore shotgun model with the designation 580SB.
They shoot short, long or long rifle.

Great little guns.

Why do you think you shouldn't shoot yours anymore? Again, just curious.

I picked up a Mossberg 702 Plinkster New years Eve at big box store for 100+change. First 22 I've ever owned and I was surpised how accurate it is. What I didn't know was how scarce 22 ammo is

Ads are arranged by state; for Oregon there are probably 15-20 listings for 10/22's with prices from $180 on up to $700 depending on options & upgrades. 2 ads were for under $200.
