Hmm,

OK on the fluid. And the pump problem. So if it made it down the hill the position of the intake on the pump was not a problem. So..............................................
Overfill the pump.

Back down the hill.

When down the hill, turn around.

Reverse up the hill. Full power.

Radical? maybe. But it looks to be yet another option for you.

I cant help you with your stuck Bota but I do know where to get the pump you have been describing. It was referred to before and is used by boaters to change their oil thru the dipstick, most boat motor oil sumps can not be drained from the bottom. Boat/US has a site and an on line catalog, I have also seen them at Wal-Mart's It looks like a bicycle pump with a tube on each end. Some one also mentioned a soap dispenser type pump. These are also used to fill the lower unit with gear oil. They are used because the oil is pumped "up" the unit.

SMM,

The Deere has a vent pipe for the HST oil sump. Its located on top of the of the rockshaft housing at the rear of the tractor. Also on my tractor the charge pump moves more oil the higher engine RPM's. Specs are like 1.6 gal. @ 1000 rpm and increase up to 4.2 gal. @ 2650 rpm. I would think you're gonna need max. engine rpm/pump flow to climb up that hill along with fwd and maybe use diff lock too once you got going.

If it was me I'd certainly try to add another gallon. That first gallon probably only replenished what was used up when you primed the splitter cylinder. Pumping on the foot pedal isn't going to do anything for ya. Depressing the pedals on the deere only moves the swash plate off center and begins the oil flowing in one direction or the other. After running it for a while with enough oil to supply the pump any air should purge itself from the system. Like it was said once you are up on top you should let the oil settle out before inspecting and/or correcting to the proper level.

I do like the idea of trying to back up the hill in reverse if it's at all possible. We all want to see you out of there. Hopefully at minimum costs to you. What's it been 2 mo. now? Sounds like your gaining ground. Good luck. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Have you ever heard of a Unimog? I bet that would be able to pull you out.....
What is the closest town to you ? I could check with some other 'Mog owners to see if anyone was close enough to give you a pull.

Just thinking of that big Kubota stuck there hurts me just as I'm sure it hurts everyone. (especially Smokeymountainman) I'll bet if we each mail our TBN brother a dollar he would have more than enough cash to hire a D9 or whatever it will take to pull his machine out and fix whatever might be wrong with it. I'm game!

This is so strange, I get out there and work on it and get so darn frustrated and wonder what in the heck I'm trying to do this myself for...then i get back to the house and find you guys trying to help from a distance and I can't help but smile a bit.
ok...I am about 10 feet further up the hill now. But it stops...everytime I get the teeth on the bucket dug in and curl it back, my front wheels come up to the bucket, then I grab with the bucket some more...but then, it stops moving forward and all i have is front end of tractor up in the air.
Guess i'm getting some fluid sucked in, then there's air.
I'm trying...got an idea, if it works i'll tell ya..if it don't I won't.

I know that this has been said before but, put some more fluid in and see if you can get up the hill. Man, I know I would go nuts /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif if my tractor was stuck out there that long. Jerry that's all i've done for the last week..put FLUID in. Didn't know it could even hold that much. I can only get in about a cup full in at a time..and that takes about 15 minutes. I'll post on here in 3-4 hours and update

I use to hate to put fluid in my tractor until I made a special funnel. I made it out of PVC pipe. I took a 6"to 2" reducer (looks like a funnel) and sleeved it ti one inch, put on a 45 degree fitting and a short piece of pipe. I then put on another 45 and a short nipple that would fit in the hole on the tractor. It may sound like it is big but its not, only about 18-24" long all together. Now I just stick the thing in the hole and start putting in the oil. I fits snug and don't have to be held. Wish that I had made it a long time ago.
