Eons ago I ordered one of the first color Kindles. I don't like being a technology pioneer since pioneers tend to collect arrows the hard way.

But in this case, I could get a subscription to the WSJ delivered to the Kindle for a huge savings over the paper delivery. The paper would mostly be delivered in the morning but since the mailbox is a good distance from the house, I would not read the paper until the evening after work or after we got the mail. With the delivery to the Kindle it saved us the cost of the Kindle in a years time and was much more easy. It made it worthwhile to be a pioneer. Sure enough I had problems with the WSJ application on the Kindle. I spent an hour or two on the phone to Amazon one Friday night.

The guy was EXCELLENT and I received great customer service from him. I knew pretty early on that the problem was not Amazon's but with the WSJ application yet Amazon paid for my Amazon Prime for a year anyway. The WSJ eventually solved the problem.
We have only had one order messed up by Amazon when they shipped us the wrong stuff. It was pretty obvious the person packing the order put the wrong label on the boxes. No big deal and we had what we ordered a few days later. Given the number of orders we place with Amazon, having one problem in all of these years is a very good track record.
I have been ordering a fair number of used/old books from Amazon and I have been very impressed with the quality of the books. All of the books have been better than described and the price has been fair. Some of the books are long out of print and I swear some of them might have been read once. I know one book was never opened. I remember seeing stacks of them in my college book store back in the day. I sure paid less for the book recently compared to the school book store prices decades ago and the book was new and never read.
Amazon prices are almost always cheaper than other stores, online or brick & mortar, where we spend money. Amazon Prime shipping is a huge money saver for us. I am shocked at the cost of shipping at other retailers, sometimes the shipping cost is 10-20ish% of the order and I am not talking overnight or second day shipping. Not having to physically go into a store is a huge time saver. The amount of time I have spent in local stores trying to buy something they don't have is huge. Just being able to order and having the part show up a few days later is a big time saver not to mention money saver.

Dan
