Re: What\'s the most profitable way make cash, farming
I was just hoping that someone on here could give me some suggestions on how to make some hard earned money.
I am suggesting from my own experience that you be as diversified as possible. Try several "Niche" areas of farming, all at the same time. Then, after 2-3 years, cull it down to 3 or 4 of the profit makers.--In 1973 and 103 acres, For me it came down to, corn, truck patch, beef cow/calf, farrow to finish hogs, feeder pigs, strawberries,Tobacco, parttime trading farm implements, timber, tame blackberries, hay for use on the farm and sell the extra hay to neighbors and finally my after hours custom work for neighbors paid for all my farm equipment . During this period of time (1973 to 1980) I worked 40-65 hrs per week doing "tool and die" work at Mallory Capacitor and when the kids got older, my wife started public work at a local bank.--Ken Sweet
