Somewhere on the other side of the globe somebody is wondering where all those hills are coming from?I could google it but that's not as much fun.
My question is what's the science behind digging a hole? It seems when a hole is dug and filled back in there is never enough dirt to level the hole, why is that?

I've always wanted to buy an old quarry pit, cut it into post hole size pieces, box them, and sell as post holes. I never could figure out what to do with all the leftover odd-sized pieces. No one wants nail holes or gopher holes.
