I threw an ad up on CL a few days after the Marketplace ad and had two responses with one reeking of a scammer. CL has become useless around here. The funny one about two weeks ago was a pair of towing mirrors I've had up for months. They were $50 new and down to $10 now. It's made for a certain era of Fords so limited need. This guy comes out of nowhere and man he wants those mirrors but doesn't get paid until the end of the month and can I hold them? No, but I'm sure they'll be around. I can trade you an old used tire for them? I don't need an old used tire it's only $10. I know man but blah blah. I'm curious if he comes back as the end of the month is approaching.

. Just mark it up 10% or so above your take. I've never had anything listed for more than a couple days before sold.

THAT is because you set a realistic price

I try my best to use that strategy also.

If you ever worked in big ticket sales, you know the first words out most customer's mouth is "what is the cheapest _____you have?' Beit tires, pruning shears, tractor seat, milk goat stand or whatever. Right here at TBN,members advocate saving money at Harbor Freight. Why all the disparaging name calling for those shopping for used stuff? I have far more problems with cheats listing things they don't have or asking for information they sell to marketers. It might help if Craigslist charged % of listed price but I'm sure crooks would figure a way around that to.

There’s a lot of hate for Facebook here but market place is far superior to Craigslist and has almost entirely eliminated smaller local for sale forums in my experience.

Other than searching. There is no way to exclude things from a search (such as lawnmowers from a search for 40+HP tractors) and the location once you get outside your mileage limit makes no sense (wouldn't you want to have closer stuff next? If I have a 100 mile limit, why would I want results from 300 miles away when there are plenty at 150-200 miles away)?

I haven’t had much better luck on Craigslist search. Morons with wrong titles is the biggest problem.

Do you use LSN at all? It seems to be based somewhere out of the Upper Cumberland. I bought a military trailer off it in Tracy City, and called on a few things in Sparta. Doesn't seem to have near the spam/junk of Craigslist.

Just read the whole tread trying to pick up some pointers . Hope none of you's ever have had to attempt to sit down and try to negotiate a pre-nup agreement for a marriage (my own with exgirl friend ) . By the time the smoke cleared we ended up never speaking to each other going on 30 years now lol . Funny thing was she claimed to love me . :) Sheesh ! Now thats some real negotiating there !

I used to but it’s pretty much dead now. There’s 10 times more listings of any given item on market place. And Craigslist is half scams and a quarter duplicate listings.
