Call me weird but...

I have been sort of arguing with myself on this general subject of tunes while on the tractor.

Up to now, I concentrate extremely on just operating the tractor safely. I do not want music, loud or soft, country or rock, to take my attention away from the tractor.

I have a hard enough time wearing ear toners as it is, thinking I am missing some subtle noise or something.

I guess I have to loosen up and enjoy the time on the machine.

And....after all this time, the voices in my head are getting boring to listen to

;)

I don't listen to music when working, but maybe "she thinks my tractors sexy, My international harvestor, or John Deere greene would be appropriate.

I mostly just sing to myself, sometimes not out loud and it's mostly good ol' Christian church songs!

If I'm doing work with the FEL, grading the drive, and such I don't listen to music. However, when I'm mowing, Oh Brother, I'm either floating along with classical, or doing a boogy with blue grass, or laughing/fussing with talk radio. Needless to say, if I had neighbors they'd get a show. :D

Same here, I will talk to myself out loud, or sing hymns. I know it sound kind'a weird, but to me, there is just something about talking or singing out loud, when no one can hear, that I enjoy.

If I had a CD player mounted to my tractor it would have to be some Doc Watson.

Or John Hartford.

For all tractor activities I couldn't imagine listening to tunes. Full attention is on what I'm doing and the sounds of the tractor and equipment. There's too much personal and financial risk on the line to be distracted. These things have the power to cause serious damage or kill you in a heartbeat, couple that with complacency and not only are you just asking for trouble but also crossing the boundaries of due diligence, imo. Hope I haven't sucked the life out of this thread however. :D

Probably first comes to mind, "Bohemian Rhapsody". I still have the urge to crank up some good kick arse "Queen".

I like the muffled sounds of the group of cylinders called " My Engine". Something about a diesel engine that I never get sick of listening too. On the rare occasions I actually turn the headphone radio on, anything by Tom Petty or George Thorogood.

I don't listen to music or anything when tractoring, but for some reason, the song that runs through my head everytime is "Property Line" by the Marshall Tucker Band.

I've got 16 gig on my music player. Just adjust to random play and run the tractor. Everything from classic rock, oldies, country, western to classical and new age stuff of my wife's :confused2:.

( i do like the Johnny Cash when he comes up in the play list)

No, I'm not listening to the music while tractoring. Well, I don't have a cab, but I might use earphones if I wish. But each strange unexpected sound possibly coming from engine, transmission or attachment might cost a lot if you'd miss it and would not stop a machine in time. Music would block catching of these sounds.

On the other hand I'm a music fan. Michael Jackson was an idol of my youth. Frank Zappa is my favourite musician and composer. His son Dweezil had visited Vilnius with a project "Zappa plays Zappa" last year and I was in it.
I also like Led Zeppelin, James Brown, Alice Cooper and many others.
You, Americans, have a lot of excellent music :)
I'm also listening to the classic music.
