Whay weight synthetic should i use?

Probaly cause i'd be wasting my time amsoil people are brainwashed anything contrary is a lie or conspiracy. Ford tested there 0w20 in several engine in arizona nevada and texas in 120 degree ambient enviroments. Along with 2 other oil makes that have done extensive testing/research in 0w20 and 0w30 in hd diesel enviroments. The 4 ball test doesn't test product performance there has been many oil/car makes out there prove that to be more of a ploy than a real test of product.

Believe what u want i can assure u a 5w30 will flow more than any 15w40 i'll bet the bank on that..but i don't have to api, lubriaction machine and autoworld has done done tested that for me.. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Flow-ability (in cold weather) is important but it's not the only thing to look for. Probably the most important thing is the lubrication qualities left on the bearings (under all temp conditions), after it sits there a while.

I don't have a clue to which brand oil is best and I'm not gonna worry about it. It's my belief that if you use a reputable oil, you're going to be alright.

TresCrows --I hear you. It seems like more and more places in my city are carrying it for whatever reason. Many lubes placves have it, motor cycle dealer have it and also high performance places have it. Yes they have other oils to, just saying it seems easier to find.

I agree 100% with your post. Good one

Whatever. So you disbelieve the four ball test, hmmmm okay. That is out there but I will bite. Many smart people on this board use 15w-40 and 5w-30. I think many people use the 15w-40 but that is me. All I see on your post is a test that Ford did some test using whatever, I have no idea and nothing more. I do not see data form API, lubriaction machine and autoworld? Can you supply that? Oh, Ford installs 15w-40 on there Powerstrokes.

Again I do not see any data just, “want i can assure u…” that is not data. I need numbers and data not what you think. At least show me something related and not some “you think”.

Well that is enough since you seem that you know all because you use 5w30, good for you. Your post is incorrect since it is outdated and does not consider up-to-date testing with any synthetic or lessoned learned in the past. Your post is true for regular oil and not synthetic oil. Do some homework that make an educated post. I never stated Amsoil was the best etc. Show me a better oil for the price and benefits and I will switch.

Piper,
This fall I changed my 01’ F350 diesel truck and my CAT 216 skid steer to Amsoil series 3000 3W30. I’m not an expert but I went with a family members recommendation. My experience has been very positive. It really doesn’t get that cold here in western Oregon but we have had some mornings in the 20’s. I must say that before my diesels would complain a little on the start up, in other words they would run rough briefly, but now with the synthetic in, the start ups are smooth. I don’t want to recommend any oil to anyone but possibly you can consider my experience in your decision. I will use the same in my Kubota M9000 after it’s broke in.

"UPS brings my Amsoil. "

Well, that is nice /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif, does he change it too and carry away the waste for enviro friendly disposal/reuse? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif.
Just messing with you /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif, I change the oil on the tractor, motorcycle and small engines, the cars go to a quick change place and install Mobil 1 5W-30 in my wifes Jeep, my Tundra and the little Toyota gets 10W-30. This way I reduce the mess I have to deal with and get to do other things besides change oil on machinery /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif and then figure out what to do with it /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif.
I have never seen Amsoil in any lube station etc so again, I don't want to buy my oil out of someones car trunk or the back of a UPS truck /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif. J

I don't wanna waste anymore time typing. I read it and have heard testing on advantages of lower visc oils vs the higher visc. counter parts. Every make and model and oil suppliers testing them for future. I don't care what u use or think. I still use a 15w40 or 5w40 but i'm going to start using 5w30 in future once it hits the market more heavily. I'm done..

WOW. I didn't mean to start such a debate. I heard of Amsoil on this thread and I am going to give it a try.
I decided to use the 15W-40W Diesel Marine Oil opposed to the Series 3000 oil. Reason being $30.00 more per case, that's a big difference to me.

I will let you kow how the Kubota makes out with the Amsoil in the future.
Again thanks for all the information and the informative debate.

I use Amsoil 10w40, which is also rated for diesels (SL / CI4) for 2 reasons : I can use it in every engine I own (gas/diesel), and it is significantly cheaper than the 5w30 diesel oil.

My 2nd choice would be the 5w30 for gasoline engines, which also rates as a "CF" oil, but with a lower Total Base Number (TBN) for controlling acid & soot.

If money was no factor at all I would run the 5w30 diesel oil in everything (SL / CI4).
