Wheel Spacer 27-2910

Everyone
I have R-4s. Got some very heavy duty "H Pattern" chains from my dealer. Custom fit. Last year, the chains stayed on the tractor- 2910 from the last of November to last of April. Those bolt ends mentioned in a prior post, drove me crazy. Right side wheel gave me no problems but the left wheel chains rubbed about 50% of the time. Sometimes on just the bolt ends, sometimes on the fender itself. I adjusted and adjusted, used chain tensioners all to no avail. I was never able to rid myself of the click-click as I snowplowed.

I will check with my dealer concerning spacers for the B-8200. Does anyone know who the vender was that made the original batch? If so, perhaps we could get a group order for 25-50 sets. Its small numbers but they might bite or be able to refer us to another source.

I just put in another call to my dealer and am waiting for them to call back with more/any info. If I learn anything useful I'll post the details. In the meantime, I remembered that I have another photo, a close-up shot of the offending clasp and the damage it caused.

Rick- Can you confirm that a 5/8" spacer would provide enough clearance? If so, and we can find a place that will make some up, maybe they could make them in several thicknesses.

Dave

Sorry for taking so long getting information on the wheel spacers. My dealer looked up the information again. The part # is L9420. I don't know where I got the other number./w3tcompact/icons/crazy.gif My short-term memory lose is starting to affect my long-term memory./w3tcompact/icons/tongue.gif There are none available from Kubota. There is a company in the East that buys up excess stock from tractor companies and then sells them. Most dealers have access to this company. I don't know the name but your dealer may look them up for you. I did not get a manufacture for these spacers. But with the part number, your dealer should be able to find out who made them.

Thanks for the number. I will ask my dealer if it makes sense to them and if they know of this surplus parts dealer back east. Thanks very much for the information.

Can't you just reverse the chains so that the clasp is on the
outside of the tire?

Hi Snowman,

No, there's an identical clasp on the other side.

Here's a quick update.

**Just got off the phone with my dealer and here's a little more info... The spacers we were expecting to receive in July were coming from the company that originally made them for Kubota. For some unknown reason that didn't happen. My dealership has now contracted with a local company to make some. They're not sure if they want to become a supplier for Kubota or anyone else for that matter. And until they come in and we try them out on my tractor the dealer doesn't really want to make this company known to the world. If the spacers do come in and work well another local machine shop has expressed interest in becoming Kubota's supplier. I'll keep everyone here updated.

Hello,
I am getting my new B2910 tomorrow and have had chains installed at the dealer without spacers. The dealer assured me that there was sufficient clearance for the 2-link ladder type chain they used. Is this correct? I would really hate to trash my first tractor. Also, as an owner of a machine shop located in NH (formerly VT), having seen the photo attached by ronjhall, I would be very interested in more information\ measurements. If the dimensions are obtainable, I would be interested in making up some sets.
Thanks,
Brian

I would ask dealer to demonstrate the install and use of chains before you accept delivery. You didn't say what type of tires you are getting. AG tires may not be a problem. There seems to be more clearance with R-4's. I have Turf's, they do not have enough clearance.
