Wheel Spacer Question: 1" vs 3"

   / Wheel Spacer Question: 1" vs 3" #11
If the question is between 1" and 3" then why not go with 2"?

I highly recommend Bro-Tek for wheel spacers. Richard gives top notch customer service and very reasonably priced. If your specific model isn't listed on his website then send him an email through the site. He will be able to make them. I was very pleased with the 2" spacers he made for my Mahindra.

Hi,

After thinking more about this I may spend the extra $ and go with 4 inch spacers.

Decided that 3 inch will be the minimum as stability increase is more important to me than chain clearance, and satisfactory chain clearance comes with any spacer I buy.

Initial motivation for purchase is chain clearance, but the real reward for spending the money is increased stability.

Did not order yet though...but will soon.

You absolutely will not regret 4" spacers per side. I was hashing it over as you and went with 2 two inchers per side and increases the stability mucho.

Hi,

I am about ready to order wheel spacers for my Kubota B2910.

I have settled on 3" spacers, but only really need 1" spacers for chain clearance.

So my question is: Is the 2" difference between 1" and 3" spacers significant? I know wider is better. But "how much better" is what I am wondering.

Perhaps not a question with quantifiable answer...I do know the wider track would FEEL more stable...

...Just like my van runs better after I change the oil.

Thoughts/opinions appreciated!
I would not go with 1" spacers on a tractor unless they are a "true" spacer, fitting on longer lugs that then secure them and the wheel to the hub together. - - Std spacer design has a double hole pattern with big counterbored holes allowing use of the original lugs to hold the spacer to the hub, and then threaded holes offset 1/2 space for attaching the wheel to the spacer. In this configuration a 1" [aluminum] spacer would be pretty flimsy.

In the latter design configuration for tractor use I would go to 2" minimum.
