Sorry if they is a repost I'm sure it is.

If I flip my tires does it really give you a 4" wider footprint? Growing tired of the trippy feeling. Want to flip the tires and add 2" spacers to each side. Wanting a total of 8" of width. So figired I would ask if the tire rim flip is 2" wider per side.

Changing wheel tread setting should be outlined in operators manual with dimensions. On most tractors there are several tire spacings avallable depending on which side of the wheel lug the disc is attached. If the rims on your tractor have the dish pointing in then reversing them will make the tread spacing wider

My experience is the same as Tx Jim, we widen the tread as much as possible on all of our tractors as we operate on hills, I have this done by the dealer prior to delivery.

I don't know how long you have had your tractor, but most of the time a new tractor "feels" a lot tippier to me tan it really is even with the tires widened and the feeing seemes to be made worse with a cab. I have to put quite a few hours on to get to feeling relatively comfortable.

Do you have the wheels with bolt in centers? If so they are 8 position wheels. For R4 tires position 1 is not available. Depending on what position your wheels are currently at, swapping (flipping) side to side will give different results.
Position 2 swaps to position 7. 51" to 71"
Position 3 swaps to position 6. 55" to 67"
Position 4 swaps to position 5. 59" to 63"
Or you could take them apart and reassemble to position 8. 75"
All are center to center measurements.

Plenty of options to widen rear track if you've got R1 tires/rims, but not so if you're on R4s. In addition to reversing rear rims (tire valve inside), I had to add a pair of 4" spacers to get as wide as you can get the R1s.

Sorry I left that part out I have the larger r4 tires.
Anyone have spacers they recomend? I've found a few on ebay.

I've had the tractor about 9 months.
It will always feel a little tippy I figure compared to like my 70 or even my old 2520 but I figured widening the rear a total of 8 inches would make a huge differance than just flip the front rins valve stems in.

I have a 2010 3720 and found when I flipped my larger R-4s it was a big waste of time. The center of the wheel had some dimples or high spots that rode against the hub and it didn't seem like it had a nice flat seat and left some wear marks on the wheel. On top of that it only gained and inch on both sides.

I left it that way for awhile while grubbing around in brush and stumps and general land clearing. While pulling a 6' Box blade full of dirt and branches, some little branches ran up against the wheel and lodged between the wheel and the trans-axle. Normally that would not be a problem, but with the wheels in that position and with the valve stem on the inside it just knocked the valve stem off. With tires filled with Rim-guard you can imagine the mess.

Finally I got Skid Steer red spacers to widen the wheels. I got 2- 2" spacers for each side. That gave a total of 8" wider overall. Then I put the wheels back into to original position because I had plenty of room. Now if branches get between the wheel and the trans-axle it will not damage anything. Of course you still have to be careful from stuff on the outside.

Conclusion; 4" spacers for each side and wheels in the original position works great. Plus Rim-guard or something heavy for fluid.

We have a new L3800 with R4 tires, which felt very tippy after our M5400 with Ag tires, on which we set the wheels out to the widest possible tread. We put a 4" spacer on each rear wheell, so we widened the stance 8". It is a definite improvement. Our Kubota dealer told us that we should have no problems due to widening the stance with spacers. We bought the spacers from a vendor who advertises on TSN: Christian S. Hansen, 510-601-7550, 7135 Pinehaven Rd. Oakland, CA. 94611

Before reversing or swapping side to side, one must measure the rim flange to hub offset. Use a tape measure and straight edge of some sort.
For me, reversing the wheels (which can be done with turf tires since they are bidirectional) added a good 2½" per side.

My opinion is reversing or swapping isn't worth it if you get less then 1½" per side...

It depends on the rims you have. Two position rims can give you an eight inch difference in total tread and you can add spacers to that up to another eight inches. If you have R1 rims with eight position you can get fifteen inches difference from the useable settings plus up to eight inches from spacers. I have mine set at position eight and have the 4.1 inch factory spacers. It is very stable with loaded tires but is perhaps too much of a good thing and I may have to change it if I want to do row crop work easily. And yes this is a repost so I don't mind reposting the same picture.
