Has anyone tried turning the wheels around on their tractor to give it just a little wider stance????

I do this on all tractor I sell. I notice you are a new member in Al. If you will give me a e-mail at jmf@centurytel.net I'll try to help you if your near by.

Eddie, When I bought my 1301d, it already had the wheels reversed for a wider track. The info sheet that the dealer gave me said that it was safer to leave them this way. The only reason that I can think of for having them in the narrow configuration would be for cultivating narrow rows on fairly level ground.

Yes, it is a common practice in the tractor world. That wider stance helps by making the tractor less tippy..

Make sure you swap "side for side" to keep tread in right direction, assuming you have rice or ag. tires, and I would only do the rears as I don't think you gain enough on the front to compensate for the extra strain on the front end parts by having weight off-center.

I think most of us do. Be sure to put right rear tire on the left side and vice versa to keep the treads in right direction......

Thanks, I planned to switch sides with them. Years ago we had an 8N ford that we would widen out to cultivate with and would switch sides with the back tires. I think I will try the front tires even if I only get a couple of inches extra width it will help in the trailer I haul it all. It is a car hauling trailer with an open center. Now I only have about an inch on the inside of each front tire. It's tied down good but it still worries me.

As posted earlier, front end parts are very high and sometimes hard to find. Widening the front will cost you in the long run.

Any chance of you retrofitting the trailer a little with some added on planking or sheet metal?
