Winter is our wet time but we have had exactly 90mm in the last four calendar months, and a fall of 15mm last week was the heaviest since 28th Nov so naturally the ground is very dry. Fortunately Nov was wet so there is still some water in dams/ponds and rivers, but some streams are not flowing. Next week's temp forecast is high 20sC and we do not normally get them until into May.

Yup. It's regulated. Kawagama Lake - look it up on Google Earth. 2 Years ago, the lake came up to 5 feet in the spring instead of the usual 4 feet, and all the crib docs were submerged, and all the floating docks were floating on the Lake, along with a whole bunch of other stuff. It was quite a mess!

The amount of snow was about average, but it is much colder than previous years. Also, the weather this month has been colder than normal, so there's very little snow melt so far.

Very different from the Maritime provinces of Canada, where snowfall has been at record levels, and also very different from the US Northeast, we are they are also seeing record snowfalls.

One issue coming up soon will be the lake ice, which is apparently about 3 feet thick on our lake. That means when the snow does melt, and float the ice away from shore, we will have a huge amount of very thick ice bouncing around against the various shorelines, wreaking havoc with crib docks, boathouse, and what not. It will not be pretty. During warmer winters, where there is a lot of snow, the ice is insulated by the snow and does not thicken up so much.

Yeah, that's about where we've been also. High of 32 forecast today and 27 for tomorrow, normal for today is 50.

Heavy rains yesterday and today..in the 40,50's. Still considerable snow on ground. Snow and teens over the weekend.

It suppose to warm in the high 50s next week in central Wisconsin.I would say that by mid May you have steady warm temps.

Isn't that the truth. Every farmer around here has been sick of this for about a month now.
There have been some years when people were getting ready to plant by now.
