Mine did. They determined the value of the mower was $3500 minus the $1000 deductible so they paid $2500. They were supposed to take the mower, but it happened the third week in June and I still have the mower. I guess they probably aren't coming to get it.

They are waiting for you to fix it up and then they will come get it.

I plan to keep the burned 425 even if I have to buy it back from them. I need the ROPS/FOPS and QA system. Heck I can salvage usable control valves, cylinders, wheel motors, etc.

Sorry to hear about your loss but apparently, it created an opportunity. I hope it works out for the better.

You should be able to buy it back for the salvage value. In this case, most likely scrap metal weight. If the parts got hot enough to burn the paint off, it's likely that any seals and bearings are toast. And the spools in the valves could be warped. Check those items closely.

I'm a little curious about why the fire restarted after the initial extinguisher. Did the engine have a lot of oil or grease on it? Was there an oil or fuel leak from the fire?

Not sure. The fire came back out from under the large plastic cover for the carb. It covers the whole top of the motor, from valve cover to valve cover. Without that thing I probably could have it out - but you can't even see the carb with that thing on it.

USAA steps up, once again. Since the tractor fire is covered on my homeowner's policy, it is actual replacement value, minus my deductible. So, the claim settlement is for the price of a brand new machine, plus sales tax, less the deductible. NO depreciation on a 15 year old tractor!

Just one more reason why I'm part of the "92% of our members plan to stay for life" that they advertise! On top of that, they were apologetic for them taking so long (I called first thing Monday morning) - saying they were being bombarded with claims from the Louisiana floods...

Why go anywhere else?

I keep hearing great things about USAA. I need to call them and quote them out. We use Nationwide but they have sort of slid on customer service.

Good Luck (Trying to get in with USAA)... I spent a lot of time and secured the documents they requested and some they said they needed all for naught.

Dad was a WWII vet and there was a window in 1999 until he passed in 2000 where he could have signed on... no chance for his widow now that he is gone.
