Where are you?

Ok, safe. Just keep it on the pavement, folks.
Thanks Gator, I will sleep better tonight (even though the freeway noise may not allow a deep sleep).

<font color="blue">The Frapper Maps are pretty slick, but...it could be so much cooler.

I set a Frapper up for the boating group I run. However, after a few days, I bit the bullet, and built my own. It's integrated into our site, so there's no duplication of data - all of the markers and popups leverage the information in our members' existing profiles. From our members' perspective, they just see one more profile field - ZIP code. Once populated, they get a push-pin on the map, with a popup containing all of their info. If they don't want to be on the map, they just leave the ZIP code field blank.

Google makes accessing their mapping code very easy - it's not that tough to do. It's certainly more involved than simple web page creation, but from what I've seen of this place, it's well within the skills of the TBN nerds.

Here's a link to ours for those interested. The markers are color-coded to boat type, and you can click the markers in the legend (top of the page) to reduce the display to just the boat models you are interested in. The popups contain links to the member's profile, photo album, and other info they may have entered.

Took about 2 days of programming...and I'm not that good. </font>

I think that TBN should hire you to set up a TBN map like yours. You've already done the hard work on your boat site. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Yeah but I got my marker in the wrong place and can't figure out how to move it to the correct location or delete it and start over.

Click on your marker.
In the window that pops up, click the 'edit' in the bottom left corner.

Thanks for that info. Got it figured out. Marker was shown in the right place if I zoomed in enough.

Done - very cool seeing where people are at. We are spread out all over!

Can't believe I am the first one to add myself to the entire NorthWest region. Even after adding myself, I didn't show up on the map, had to edit myself and click on my location for it to finally work. Maybe the same applies for other left coasters.

Added myself, although my tractor doesn't live where I do, lol.
