Where did you get your diesel tank?

I have more than one, the two main ones are: I have a 500 I dug up out of the ground, it was a gas tank a mailman had and when he retired he gave it to me. I emptied it out and have put diesel in it ever since.

Another one, I had a steel supplier sheer out the size pieces I wanted from a 4x8 sheet of 1/8", and I welded it up myself, it holds about 75 gallons. I set it in a trailer and go fill it when I need diesel away from the farm. If I want I can lift it out of the trailer with a tractor.

If needed, I also will use cans with a little batt. powered pump to empty them into a tractor.

I was looking at the prices of fuel tanks I don't have a bank so will
stick with the 55 gal tank in the back of my truck and all the other
containers full of diesel and I have plenty left and haven't purchased
any diesel this year
Instead of purchasing something like this it would be better to
spend the money on diesel that will last for many many years

I had a 275gal tank that came with the property and house and the Ford 1900. I used it for a year or two and realized it was pointless for my needs and sold it for $125. With a manual pump. The guy was happy to get it.

That sounds like the way I bought mine. 10 years ago, though, and not near Pittsburgh. I got it home and rinsed it out with some fresh diesel, and have been using it ever since with no issues.

I'm currently switching from 5 gallon jugs to a pair of 55 gallon drums.
Drums free used for hydraulic oil and ATF.
But I need to get a pump.

My diesel fuel supplier rents. Got a brand new 500 gallon double walled tank with new electric pump costs me $100/yr. Not worth buying at that price and the fuel company takes on the liability. Keeps my farm insurer happy too.

I was gifted a 100 gal tank from my farmer FIL, that he no longer used. It isn't big enough to get deliveries, since it must be 275 or larger. It was a pain to load it up & fill with off road diesel, and the closest dealer is 45 minutes away.

I don't use that much diesel anyway so I found it more convenient to put a pump on my 1000 gal heating oil storage tank and fill the tractors using this rig:

Also solves the home delivery problem.

My 250 gallon bulk tank I bought from a neighbor who was done burning diesel. Had 80 odd gallons of diesel in it to boot.

The 55 gal. slip came with the 1150 dozer

The 90 gal. slip came with 12 volt pump, filter and 10 foot hose..... Offered the fella 75 bucks cash cause' that's all I had on me right then, and he said sold.

I have posted this before.. mounted on a pallet with lag bolts and straps. just right for my SSQA forks...local farm supply -50gallon... nowadays these are pretty spendy but sure handy.

Are you guys permitted to use gravity fuel tanks?

Strictly prohibited here by fire rules due the risk of leaking and feeding a fire.

About the only gravity tank you will see for liquids is water tanks.
