In general, I tend to agree with you. And would do the same if such a reliable tractor mechanic was located in my area.Deere dealership wanted $2300 to split my machine and replace just the pto clutch. I paid a man that works out of his shed $1300 to do both the PTO and Drive clutch and he had it done in 2 days. He makes his living working on tractors and has a good reputation. I dont feel a loyalty to any business that charges so much more. I might buy a tractor there since I like John Deere but maintenance and such - I shop around.
And to think you had both, the PTO and drive clutch replaced for $1300. :thumbsup:
However, when comparing costs, any dealership has a great deal more overhead expense to cover than someone working alone out of his shed.
