Where to get quality screws?

I'm tired of buying $crap that has cheap screws.

SWMBO bought quality blinds from Lowes. As soon as I torqued them with my cheap driver they stripped.

I bought a box of $crews from Lowes, They still stripped out.

Where to get a good screw?

You might try McFeely's. They are online. Been pretty happy with
their stuff. Some of their stainless are a bit pricey, but most
stainless are.

TSC has Hi strength bolts at a good price. If you need smaller than 1/4" youll have to go to McMaster Carr and more $.

If you're referring to the drive slot in a wood screw, you might want to get a quality driver and bin your cheap one...there's a good chance your problems will go away.

MSC Industrial, Fastenal, McMaster Carr, Grainger all carry various grades of screws all the way up to 180 ksi ultra high strength screws. Their pricing is similar to a Lowe's for the same quality. I love MSC because I live in the country and if I need something I can order it by 7:00 PM and it will be here by UPS the next day. I do have to pay shipping but I do not pay any gas or spend any time. I know exactly what I am getting.

You may not get the same service from MSC depending on your location and their warehouse location but one of the others may suit you better and they are good as well.

Torx bit (star bit) is the only way to go....go to your local lumber yard...not Homers or lowboys. They should have a great assortment for you

Forget about phillips screws except for the lightest jobs. In heavy going they all strip out the head and what a pita to get them out. I use either square drive or torx drive exclusively now. If they stall you need a pilot hole first. You cannot get them at the big box stores, go to a real hardware store or industrial supply house like Fastenal.

Most all of there stuff is that yellow cadnium? plated stuff. Really good quality fasteners, you have to pay for quality...
