Where to get quality screws?

You need a quality bit and a 1/4 inch cordless impact driver, these will drive any screw with very little effort.:thumbsup: Once you have one, you will never use a screw gun or drill again. I have used a dewalt and craftsman, both work great, they have a positive lock quick chuck, the proper bits are black and designed for an impact.

I'm tired of buying that has cheap screws.

SWMBO bought quality blinds from Lowes. As soon as I torqued them with my cheap driver they stripped.

I bought a box of from Lowes, They still stripped out.

Where to get a good screw?

I don't know what you mean by "stripped" are you saying the screw head broke off, the slots rounded off, the threads on the screw broke off? Yesterday I was using half a dozen different sizes of screws in my barn to build a workbench, I was screwing cheapo sheet metal screws into laminated particle board (#8-10 screws) without pilot holes and nothing stripped or broke. What were you driving the screws into, and were you using pilot holes if the material was hard enough to require it?

It took quite a bit of will power on my part to not make a smarty pants remark about his closing line.

I usually use drywall screws for most carpentry projects, plant hangers, etc. Relatively cheap, and any I've stripped or broken were generally my own stupidity. I generally prefer the coarse threaded ones. Not sure if they make them in sizes shorter than 1" though.

I have seen them (black, for interior use) in 3/4" length. Coarse thread works best in softwoods, fine thread in hardwoods. I have snapped off a lot of drywall screw heads myself so never use them for anything where a failure would put something at risk.

I use drywall screws- tough and hard to strip. I like either fine or coarse. Friend likes square slotted screws and uses a cordless drill to drive with. I use a cordless when ever I can.

Well since I started this thread out of frustration I am thankful for the replies like those pointing me to MSC Industrial, Fastenal, McMaster Carr, Grainger etc.

And yes, I drill pilot holes and use high quality bits. Some of the cheap screws strip with a manual screwdriver. Haven't rounded a bit yet.

And I started to title the thread "Where can I get a good $ C R E W" but figured Bird or someone would kill it.
