Where was your generator made?

Problem is, even if something is made in USA, it will almost always have foreign sourced parts. Just how it has been for a long time. Not every item needed for a product is made in the USA.

Me, i NEVER shop at walmart. Cant stand the place.
Our new Walmart closed after a few years due to inventory loss and parking lot break ins…

Just drove by it 20 minutes ago and plenty of other shuttered businesses plus Safeway continues to close stores around the Bay Area.

Speaks of the neighborhood.
Glad I don’t live there

My generac is mostly made in USA, except for the controller, which is some Chinese electronics. Engine, alternator, etc are USA Made.
Both my big Generac standby's were made in Wisconsin and the one has a John Deere turbo diesel engine. Both over 20 years old now and never had an issue with either. I do have a Champion portable inverter and it reeks of China but it works flawlessly. Chinese made hard good are good so long as there is proper and continual oversight. it's when they are left to their own 'devices', things go to poop.

Always tease my doctors.. I say to them, the only thing made here today are babies and they get delivered with Chinese tools.

Hopefully that comes to an end shortly with the new administration and I see there is a movement on to eliminate China from participating and getting profits from the American stock markets. Hopefully them buying land here will be curtailed as well.

The 2 worst things that happened to this country was 1. Unionization and limited RTW states. 2. World class manufacturing which has allowed manufacturers to source parts and components world wide at the lowest cost but still claim it's 'Made in USA'. Not fond of eating raw fish with chopsticks but it's coming if we (as a nation) don't curtail it.

I’d love to see electronics manufacturing return to the USA.
Problem is , the current environmental regulations and public perception.
Making electronics has some environmental drawbacks .
NH, MA, used to have significant electronics manufacturing return, but cheaper labor and environmental regulations killed it.

Question is: if environmental pollution travels 1,000’s of miles as reported, what health risks are we actually saving, having the product manufactured in china?

None that I'm aware of.... Problem here is not only labor cost but environmental overregulation. The Chinese work for a mere fraction of what the American workers make and factoring in benefits, it makes that disparity even more egregious. Environmental overregulation is causing us to regress, not progress. One reason I'm 100% in favor of DJT's war on tariff's. The Chinese especially, have been screwing us for decades. At least balancing the tariff's will alleviate some of it but not all. The earned wage disparity, I have no clue how to fix that.

American workers aren't going to come 'down on earned wages' that I'm aware of and the Chinese will never come up to where we are simply because the Chinese Communist government would never allow that to happen.

Capitalist societies are their own worst enemies in a number of ways.

California especially is the most egregious when it comes to environmental overregulation, the main reason why your fuel prices usually far exceed every other state, which I find interesting in as much as California has a ton of refineries and oil wells. Then you have the California Air Quality Resource Board, or CAFE or whatever it's called and their insane 0 emissions tailpipe regulations.

We are striving the be the cleanest, all while China is burning coal at a breakneck rate (alot of it they buy from us btw) and building coal fired power plants willy-nilly as well.

We all exist on the same planet and what China does in the way of pollution of the atmosphere, effects us as well.

Walmarts offer a lot more USA products than Target. Target is essentially a pretend upscale Walmart with less US products, replaced with more India products.
China Freight is simply an unabashedly direct connection to Chinese tool importation. It’ll be interesting to see how China Freight company adjusts to these tariffs

I have two Champion inverter generators. Designed here, but made in China unfortunately.

I bought this generator years ago as an insurance policy, had some outages and had to bail out the small basement, really worked out well, never needed it afterwards. Made in USA.

I suspect Hardon Fright will be fine until their warehouse stock runs out and then, who knows. Like the MechMaxx thread. and if they will honor the pre tariff pricing or if they just stiff their new orders. Time will tell I guess Coffee is climbing like a rocket ship as well.

I was surprised to see ANY generators were still made in USA. Winco & Dayton are still in business. Maybe it’s time to give them a look.

/ Where was your generator made? #39
Dayton don't make squat. They are a reseller of rebranded goods. Winco is made here but I bet they are assembled from offshore components. It's a foggy line between 'made in USA' and assembled in USA from globally sourced parts,

One of these will keep your work shop warm

The new generators, about 26 feet in length and weighing 60,150 pounds, cost around $1.5 million to $2 million. The generators will be made at Generac's plant in Oshkosh.
