Which BX's Have "Abrupt Stop in Reverse" Problem?

:) Can't ever please everyone can you?

Just curious, Neil, if you know whether the competing NH subcompact has had any similar "stops too fast/stops too slow" issues, or if anyone might comment about the comparable JD or MF equipment. Not trying to sow the seeds of controversy, but I'm guessing that getting the actuator design just right on these small tractors is a bit of a trick due to size, weight and cost parameters (and different people seem to want different things ;)).

The BX's before the 50 series and the BX's after the 50 series did not have this problem. It wasn't the Kubotas, it wasn't sub compacts and it wasn't the different BX models. It was the 50 series BX's..

Agreed and acknowledged, John. My BX2230 predates the xx50 models, and has no abrupt stopping problem. But, obviously, Kubota felt the need to revise the stop behavior when they brought out the xx50 models, or they would not have tinkered around with it like that. I was trying to get a sense of whether it was done because of competitive factors or just an engineering misadventure, and whether any of the other , non-Kub scuts out there had similar issues.

Lol, that's forsure

Having had the pleasure of having to have the brakes replaced, (thank goodness I didn't have to enjoy the expense also) I can honestly say that I would rather have the abrupt stop than having to use the brake. It's not as bad as it has been hyped up to be. If you are working in low range, which I tend to be when I'm doing loader work, it's hardly noticeable. In high range, the annoying part is spilling part of your load with the stop. You just gradually take your foot off the pedal and slow down in increments rather than just going from the reverse pedal to thr forward pedal. JMO.

I do gradually take my foot off of the reverse pedal but when my foot is all the way off it still creeps a ways before it stops hense why I have to use a bit of forward pedal. I have been doing it so long that I have it to an art form and can press the forward pedal with just enough finess to make a smooth stop but it's still annoying to do lol

Kubota, on the BX models, never seemed to nail it. For me, first was the "walking" unit that would MOVE without anyone using it. Get off your BX22and it would move(been there done that)!!! On the BX24 the pedel issue...After almost 9 years you would think the designers would get it right.....:confused2:

Different strokes for different folks, I guess.

On my BX1860, I thought the small amount of "run on" was absolutely perfect, comfortable and intuitive. Loved it. I think Kubota got that spot on.

My B2320 is much more forceful, approaching abrupt, in comparison.

The typical Craftsman/AYP/Husquarna? Mine would snap your neck vertebrae!!

Never had a Kubota tractor with hydro, but when I saw the thread title I immediately thought of my RTV900.

Forward is easy enough to smoothly slow and stop - but reverse!

I thought maybe I don't have the art of it, but after after reading about these BXxx50's I'm beginning to think that perhaps some RTV's have the same penchant.
