Seems the legality is based more on the type of vehicle it is rather than where that vehicle is at the moment.

I guess driving a tractor on the road don't make it a Semi anymore than driving the Semi across a farmers field makes the Semi a tractor. </font>

Who is going to check what fuelyou are using on-road. Are you going to drain your gas tank twice for the trip to change fuel type?

I think this legal aspect is a non-issue, but the power/compatibility is something else.
