Buying Advice Which Kioti?

a boulder granite is 168 lbs a cubic foot. minimum size is 2X2X4= 16 cube
16 cube of granite is 2688 LBS. my take on the size is it is bigger than that.maybe in the 3500lb range.
for reference sandstone solid is 163 cuft.

I think it's close to 3500 lbs +/-. I have a granite boulder that's about 50% bigger and it weighs 5128 lbs. as weighed by the quarry where I bought it. Of course, I can't move it.

I believe the measurement standard is with the stock bucket but I agree that none of the manufacturers makes that point explicitly. The stock bucket on a KL401 weighs about 300+lbs so that is not inconsequential.

I think with PAHayseeds issue though the biggest barrier to carrying more is that the stock bucket is not designed to carry a volume large enough to reach anything close to max lift capacity unless you fill it with granite or lead. Sand and gravel should not be hard to lift by the bucketful I would guess but I've never done it.

Travel with a loaded bucket is never supposed to be long distance. I don't know what the design assumptions are but the loader is just what the word implies and is not a "transporter". It is designed to load a truck or move material short distances so IMO the FEL specifications are reasonably accurate.

I believe that when a lift weight is listed at the pins, it is just that and anything beyond that IS part of the weight listed. In other words, when the lift test is done, there is nothing attached at those pins. That is how I understand that the test is done.

Yes well that is clearly the alternative explanation. With Kioti it is hard to tell as they don't explicitly state and only provide the pivot pin figures but with Kubota they publish both pivot pin and mid bucket or maybe it is 500mm in front of pivot point figures. To list either mid bucket or 500 mm figures essentially requires that a bucket be mounted so those figures are clear. The pivot pin figures for Kubota are not remarkably higher than what you'd expect just based on the measurement being taken at the mechanically more advantageous location though so I still think the companies may do the measurements with the buckets in place. I've always wondered about this but have never seen a definitive answer. You'd think that other companies would do an aggressive marketing campaign against Kioti if Kioti used no bucket in their measurements and I've never seen a peep from JD or Kubota about that.

IT

I was kinda hoping a dealer would jump in here, but I can see why they wouldn't want to in hindsight.

I guess unless one of us goes to korea and sees how they arrive at their conclusions, we will never know. I could probably get someone to do some rough weight tests with me, but is really isn't worth the time and aggravation.

Maybe Muhammed or one of the others on the TBN site can put these issues into their next tractor book.

Don't worry about the hijack. the loader is the only reason i am thinking of the dk40 over the ck35. so the loader discussion was greatly helpfull
